Nintendo has confirmed what we all suspected and that’s that Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Nintendo Switch family of systems has been a huge hit with consumers both critically and commercially. Nintendo has said that their latest 2D Mario adventure has sold over 4.3 million copies in just two weeks, which makes Super Mario Bros. Wonder the fastest-selling Super Mario video game ever.

I wonder what a certain fanbase would say, if a PS game sold 4.3M units in two weeks on a system with a 132M install base. Lol

These are record breaking sales for a Super Mario game.

Interesting to see that games that used to sell less like Zelda become a monster in Switch while Mario that used to be the top seller had to left the spotlight.

Same thing happened with PS with the PS4. Prior to the PS4, outside of GT, most PS exclusives didn’t sell big numbers. It was during the PS4 gen that exclusives like GOW, Uncharted, and HZD sold 15/20M.

In SIE GoWR has the record of 5.1 million in one week, and before that the record was TLOU2 with >4M in its weekend debut. Spider-Man has the record of 2.5M in one day.

4.3M in two weeks for a PS Studios game wouldn't be a record, but would mean great launch sales.

Yes, in the Jimbo+Hermen era we saw Horizon, Spider-Man, God of War, TLOU, and pretty likely Uncharted 4 (last update was 15M many years ago) reach over 20M sales. Plus games like Days Gone, GT Sport, GoT, TLOU2, GoWR, HFW, GT7, Spider-Man 2 should be on track or maybe already achieved 15M+, and some of them pretty likely may end selling 20M+ because are selling faster than their previous chapters.

I never said they were records. I’m saying that no matter how impressive PS sales are, you always have Xbox morons that try to 💩 on it by coming up with the “iNstAll bAsE” excuse. Like this clown.

Spider-Man 2 made 2.5 million in 24 hours on 46-47 million PS5 units, and some have dared to say that this isn't impressive and that Sony is hiding things from us because they don't give the 3 days sales.

But Mario Wonder making 4.3 million in 2 weeks on a installbase of 132 million is great

I suggest you to ignore trolls and fanboys like him.

(Launch aligned) PS4 and PS5 hold the launch aligned records of amount of games sold for a console in gaming history.

A game getting record sales while hitting a small percent of the insttallbase means the console has a huge and varied amount of games, a lot of top sellers, and a catalog appealing to players with many different tastes.

In the case of Switch most games sales are from a few dozen games, most of them from the same -the 1st party- company. Most sales focused on a few games indicate very low amount of big selling games, a too limited catalog of -in this case 3rd party/multiplatform- big sellers.

The astroturfers giving PlayStation the disappointed dad treatment for all its good news reminds me of my mom when I’d score 99% on an exam. “You should’ve gotten 100%!!!”
