I wish him the best of lucks.
This clearly isn't a simple retirement as he was just tweeting about staying longer last year.
More exits from long standing members under Jim Ryan's tenure. Playstation hasn't been in this much disarray in a while.
Not sure if you know it, but Jim Ryan already retired. He has nothing to do with this guy leaving.
Pretty likely he left to join another company, or to create his own project, or due to personal / familiar reasons. Or who knows, maybe he caused a big mess and took responsability for it.
The Sony studios have creative freedom to do the games they want. And if one of them have more freedom to do whatever they want, it's Naughty Dog.
Naughty Dog were the ones who decided that for them it would be better to branch out the TLOU2 MP and to reboot it into a standalone MP game that would be their biggest project ever.
What Jim Ryan did was to give ND (and all the other teams) resources to hire more people and grow their studios hiring people to release their games faster and being able to work more games at the same time. And also improved their marketing helping them to sell more than ever. What an "evil" CEO!
Do you seriously think that Jim Ryan -after he retired- created some kind of conspiracy to fire or make leave the head of technology of one of their studio? Really?
I wish certain members on this forum would stop acting like nothings wrong and everything’s fine
People better not try to downplay this as “16 years is a long time…he’s just retiring”
In the linked ND post, Druckmann mentions the new heads of the studio because Evan Wells will leave at the end of 2023, announcing that their new Head of Technology was going to be Christian Gyrling:

If this guy will leaves now, probably is because Evan Wells poached him to go with him to create his new studio. It would make sense that Evan would want to bring the head of tech with him.
