Absolutely incredible. Sony has made one of the fastest selling systems ever, but while the hardware is obviously selling excellent and making Sony excellent money, it is also the 1st party software that is selling incredibly well.

For revenue, third party games like COD, GTA Online, FIFA, NBA, Fortnite are the most important, and PS has more players in every game.

This is something that Xbox was pissed off about, they made the cheaper S for these casuals. COD in MS hands, PS branding and marketing gone forever is not what Sony wanted, they fought really hard to prevent the deal.

Anecdotal but i bought more games in these 3 years than in first 3 years of any gen in last 25 years.
PS5 s silent (biggest plus for me), fast, u get from game to game in blink of a eye, digital games re on sale a lot, heck i buy full priced games digital. Also big title i buy on disc re gow, spiderman, ff16 etc.

Need to renewe ps plus in january, thing s 99 pounds for extra.

Its their most profitable gen ever probably.

they actually probably don't make that much profit from console hardware sales. accessories yes, consoles a little bit but not that much, barely above break-even.

They’re not making much profit, less than 2b last year but that was partly cuz of several acquisitions. During PS4s peak, they were making 7-8 billion profit annually.

Early generation there’s never much profit though, so it’s still impressive but not “a lot”
