Hmmm there are alot of sequels. For a series that's over 30 years old I was expecting at least 200 million. Hmm.
There are only a few series in gaming history that sold (not counting F2P) more than 185M units. Maybe only Mario, FIFA, CoD, Assassiin's Creed, Pokemon, Tetris (most of them sold in a single game), Sims, Lego, Minecraft (most of them sold with a single game) and GTA.For a series that's over 30 years old I was expecting at least 200 million. Its not about whether series have achieved that because some series have nowhere near as many entries as Final Fantasy which has over 15 entries. What would be relevant is series to number of Installments comparisons. There are only a few series in gaming history that sold (not counting F2P) more than 185M units. Well, I'd say FIFA, COD, AC, Pokemon, Sims, Lego and specially Mario had way more games -even if only counting the main ones- than FF. And most of them are also -unlike FF- heavily bundled with almost every new entry. Its not about whether series have achieved that because some series have nowhere near as many entries as Final Fantasy which has over 15 entries. Fair enough. Just wanted to put the overall analysis in perspective with metrics that matter.Well, I'd say FIFA, COD, AC, Pokemon, Sims, Lego and specially Mario had way more games -even if only counting the main ones- than FF. Yep. I'm not specially a RPG/FF fan, but I have to admit that this series had great sales every generation since the NES and SNES (back then only in Japan, until they moved to PS) until today, always leading their genre.Fair enough. It's kinda true when a crap like StarField only needed less than a month to outsell FFXVI with 2 months advantage in the US and Europe lol.I Still remember people here telling me that bethesda games are more popular in the public scene than the final fantasy series, fucking lol, specially after the starfield fiasco and all the hype on the new ff7 part 2 remake showing
