Asian devs, non-Japanese are coming along, slowly but surely. The level of tech expertise and the gulf compared to their fellows in Japan continues to show. It says a lot about Japanese devs compared to these start ups in Korea, Taiwan and China.
I also like that these devs don't stick to spiky hair stereotypes/anime nonsense that plague Japanese releases. You can see the asian take on ideal realistic character faces in the titles and the differences to western takes are clear but it's not like Japanese devs who lean heavily into anime/spiky hair territory. As a result these games land much better for an international taste palette as opposed to Japanese releases who force you to either be on the anime/weeb train or out.
All positives imo. Sooner or later one or several titles from these devs will be a hit. The problem for Asian markets will continue to be the lack of console penetration, whether in China, Korea, Taiwain or Indonesia. Premium titles live on consoles, not outside of them.
