Release windows are closing now. As expected...
Some games will take longer to release than others. That's also expected. As workflows change for the PC, we should be seeing the gap close more. Those 2 years for returnal...
I think the reality is long as they can port for cheap cost even a million or two in sales is straight up cash.
3 flops on PC in a row and the idiots can't fucking figure it out.
Bunch of morons running PS now.... they need to be run out.
But this was a similar situation as the Uncharted Legacy Collection. Port/remake of an old game, announced for PS5 and PC. PS5 and PC versions within a few months of each other. Some games will take longer to release than others. That's also expected. As workflows change for the PC, we should be seeing the gap close more.

The release windows for new games will narrow over time, but it won't happen that fast.
Well this game probably won’t flop on PC I guess and it is not like it is a new game… it is basically a re-re-release from a PS3 game.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is currently the tenth best-selling game on Steam after a peak of more than 13,500 PC users played the game at any one time during its opening weekend. This marks a huge improvement over Sony's previous PC release Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which could only pull in 610 players during its release. And three weeks later, the game still hasn't pulled in more users than that at any one time.
The latest stats make Miles Morales the third most popular PC release from Sony in 2022, behind God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered. It just managed to beat the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection by a few thousand users.
Spider-Man Remastered breaks new sales record on PC, marking yet another milestone for PlayStation PC ports.
Marvel's Spider-Man still isn't done writing its page in gaming history, even as Insomniac keeps teasing villains for the sequel. Namely, the Remastered edition of the game just broke a UK sales record by becoming Sony's biggest PC launch in the country, surpassing God of War by a significant margin.
The latest GSD charts for the UK estimate that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered outsold God of War by 26% in their respective opening weeks, making it Sony's fastest-selling PC release in the country. Looking at the entire British market, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered was only the fourth-best PC launch of the year; Elden Ring still tops the overall charts, followed by Total War: Warhammer 3 and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. In terms of lifetime sales, Horizon: Zero Dawn is still Sony's overall bestseller, with 2.3 million PC units sold as of March 31st, as per the same source.
They're only selling about 10% as many copies on PC as they are on PS4, so it may not be a high priority to port more or to port them faster, as the costs of porting aren't inconsiderable. Anyone expecting all PS games to come to PC is wishing big, and anyone who thinks anything but GAAS and online-only games will ever be day and date is retarded.it's a remake? And was made with PC version along side of it because of other teams making Last of Us MP which is suppose to release sometime next year as well.
If the release window is closing why did we not see Forbidden west?
I think Sony takes the releases on a case by case basis, which is dependent on sales, co-development with PC version. Horizon is a huge game, and Gureilla are super busy. So its probably not coming until later next summer June/July.
What Flops would those be?
Sackboy is the only one that comes to mind. Spiderman is selling better than GOW, and GOW did extremly well and after Ragarok released on PS5 will continue to sell?
They are making money from PC regardless of how you view it.
As of 21st November 2022, Sony's PC ports have recorded the following highest concurrent number of players:
Spider-Man: Miles Morales Has Better PC Launch Than Sackboy, Uncharted
Peak play count of 13,500 peoplewww.pushsquare.com
May never be day and date - but it could be one day. Also, I think the release window will be 6 months. This is my opinion. They're only selling about 10% as many copies on PC as they are on PS4, so it may not be a high priority to port more or to port them faster, as the costs of porting aren't inconsiderable. Peaked for console marketshare? In a year where it looks like the holiday quarter will give them the sales crown for the whole year? Reaching much?Don't know if maybe some of you missed it... but Naughty Dog detailed how PC development is being fully integrated into their studio. They've fundamentally changed how they operate, and now they are a PS and PC development studio.
How Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection’s PC launch speaks to Naughty Dog’s present and future
Naughty Dog reflects on the studio’s first PC launch, and why it’s such an important step forward for the studio.blog.playstation.com
It's a "pivotal moment" for the studio and their future direction has changed. They developed the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection with Iron Galaxy, and now with TLOUP1 they are developing it solely in house.
This also aligns with the Factions 2 game being in development for both PS5 and PC which will likely release simultaneously for both platforms.
Some of you guys hoping and praying that Sony abandons their PC initiative due to some old titles underperforming are ignorant to what has truly happened here. Sony has fully and fundamentally accepted PC as another platform to build their games on. All of their studios are incorporating this new initiative into their workflows. Sony absolutely 100% knows that it has work to do on the PC platform. Their games, although popular on console, are not guaranteed hits on PC. Again, they know that. Putting these games on PC isn't JUST about expecting to sell millions and millions of more units. It's about building a library of their titles and getting their studios up to speed with PC development BEFORE they start cranking out the REAL reason they are getting into PC gaming... and that's Multiplayer Live Service games.
They haven't been shy about talking about their large amount of upcoming service games.. which they hope to find BIG success with on PC. And they stand a VERY good chance at being successful with it... because if you take Sony's quality and polish, and add that to popular PC genres... utilizing Sony's popular IPs or new IPs... then you have a combination for something extremely successful. Sony knows that, again.
They will continue to release their games on PC, because it honestly costs them very little relatively to do so. They want to be in this market and grow it. The more success they find with other projects, the more it will reinforce their other projects as well. Sony is new to the PC space, and they have to build up a good rapport with PC gamers just like all the others had to. Once that gets firmly established, and PC gamers aren't relegated to being an afterthought... then they will grow.
Sony knows it. It will simply take time because they can't make seismic changes all at once... but make no mistake.. there's no stopping this train. They've essentially peaked for console marketshare. They can't grow it much more than they already have.. which is why PC is becoming important for them. Investors demand growth... So Sony will do what they have to to meet that demand.
Yes. Their console lifetime sales reach about ~120M units. There's essentially a cap on the amount of people they reach with that market. They're expanding beyond that, into markets where they don't normally penetrate that well.. PC and Mobile. That's why in their investor day slides they show that PC and Mobile are the biggest growth markets. Half of their releases by 2025 are expected to be PC and Mobile releases.Peaked for console marketshare? In a year where it looks like the holiday quarter will give them the sales crown for the whole year? Reaching much?
Also, Naughty Dog is one studio, not all of Sony's studios are doing this, and returns on the process haven't been seen yet. Don't count it as a done deal by a long shot, and dropping cross-gen won't improve the likelihood of PC ports without the PC versions needing to be compromised on technical aspects that PS5 is better-engineered for.
Yes, only 10 years for this game.Release windows are closing now. As expected...
The remake wasn't developed solely in house. The unnamed team from San Diego who pitched and leaded the project until swapped their role to support team probably also worked on the port, or did it themselves without needing ND.It's a "pivotal moment" for the studio and their future direction has changed. They developed the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection with Iron Galaxy, and now with TLOUP1 they are developing it solely in house.
I'm not looking at it that way.. but whatever. 10yrs.Yes, only 10 years for this game.
I've told this back on GAF before and well.... got trolled for it since it wasn't what people wanted to hear. Oh well..Don't know if maybe some of you missed it... but Naughty Dog detailed how PC development is being fully integrated into their studio.
