Gamestar - 77/100
The elaborate remaster ensures that The Last of Us loses almost none of its original magic even ten years later
Multiplayer.it - 70/100
The watchword is optimization, and it is a concept that those who edited the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 would do well to review
Worth Playing - 50/100
This should have been a victory lap for the PC iteration of The Last of Us: Part I. From the gameplay to the characters to the story, this is one of the highlights of the past few gaming generations. The appearance on the PC should've given the game even more room to show off things like higher-quality textures and reflections along with Sony's now-standard ultrawide support. Yet the game's ability to only work with reduced risk after waiting for an abnormally long time for shader caching mars the release. The game crashes, frequent pauses in gameplay and other nonsensical bugs put into question the decision to release this despite the obvious issues. There's a chance that this will recover via patches and the game can bounce back. For now, it is sad to see that one of Sony's best games has received one of the worst PC ports thus far.

In its current state it is a deluge of bugs and optimization problems. Despite this, the game is sublime.
Gamereactor UK - 50/100
If you are one of those gamers who have been waiting and waiting and waiting to experience this unanimously acclaimed masterpiece for your PC, you should of course absolutely wait, or refrain from this completely
We Got This Covered - 20/100
Sony has impressed with their recent PC ports, but something has gone awry with 'The Last of Us Part 1'. This is of the most highly regarded franchises in gaming, but this port is a buggy mess that crashes constantly and requires hours of set-up before playing. Avoid until major patches arrive, and even then, you should remain skeptical

There goes the "prestigious" metacritic publisher of the year 2023 award. This port is an all time low for ND under Sony and for the TLoU IP.

And for PlayStation as well. But hey, releasing crap doesn't devalue your brand, per some very smart people in this forum. Very bright, very smart.

The fact that Sony chose to have ND develop this abomination in house means that more of their development time will be used fixing this pirated crap instead of making high quality PS exclusives. Mind you ND has spent 3 extra years developing this multiplayer project that we still haven't seen a peek of. If Factions isn't out this year I honestly don't give a shit about it anymore. It already missed the tv show hype.

Wait a minute. I keep hearing "1st party shouldn't waste time on PC". Don't tell me this was actually done by ND themselves? I thought Sony bought a studio specifically for these ports.

Iron Galaxy is doing most of it but I think Naughty Dog is still involved or overseeing it somewhat. And now they are saying they're still looking for a fix

You can work as much as you want on it, it will be hard to port that game to anything other than the very top GPUs. It needs a LOT of VRAM. PS5 has dedicated hardware I/O system and PCs don't. PS5 has ultra fast SSD too, most PCs don't. And that game was very well optimized for PS5 and its custom hardware. It's a lot harder than porting Returnal.

PCSR (PC Stuttering Race, since nearly every game stutters on PC day one now due to shader compilation) must remove from their heads once and for all that everything depends on GPU Teraflops and that if they spend 5 times as much, then surely their games should run 5 times better. It's just not how it works at all, but you can explain them (and Xbox fanboys too) dozens of times, they never learn, for some reason. Power of Nvidia and MS marketing, I guess.

A PS5 is a dedicated game machine, a PC is not. Right now, games run better on PS5 than on most PCs, so it's a shame they spent so much money for nothing.

Meanwhile, PC Morons Race is in shambles on GAF, and Alex Battaglia (dictator on Digital Foundry, another idiotic PC fanboy, hardly a real "analyst") is crying on Twitter. He called random people "children" now, asking for a truce in the "platform wars". Both pathetic and hilarious.

That port is unacceptable.

No matter if I’m against the Sony PC port or not… if Sony choose to make the port they should aim for excellence.

They rushed to try to match the Show ends but it should be smart to keep it cooking for more 6 months.

Nixxes already had too many ports to work.
Sony will need at least 3 more PC port studios to keep with the amount of PC releases they are delivering.

Iron Galaxy & Naughty Dogs themselves did the port.

And I agree with you here… we are in the 3rd year of PS5 and Naughty Dog didn’t show anything but keep eating time in remasters and ports 🤷‍♂️

Sony studios should be working on new games for PS5.

Why is Iron Galaxy doing it? I thought this was what Nixxes were purchased for?

Sony just spending money just to spend it. If your PC port house that you just bought isn't ready to work on the port then wait until they are. Instead you get this situation.
