When Bethesda director and executive producer Todd Howards was talking to GQ about the upcoming launch of Starfield, the topic of The Elder Scrolls 6 was, expectedly, brought up. Howard didn’t talk too much about the game, but he did give a tiny bit of insight into what he hopes to accomplish with the next game he’s directing after Starfield.

“It’s like… I don’t want to answer, but I want to be polite. will say that we want it to fill that role of the ultimate fantasy-world simulator. And there are different ways to accomplish that given the time that has passed.”

Going back to the announcement of the game, Howard was asked if he regretted announcing it as early as he did. To that, Howard says it’s something that’s been in his mind since that day.

“I have asked myself that a lot,” he said. “I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually.”

These aren't remotely the same thing in gaming terms. A pox on whoever wrote that headline.

They could do that. My issue with Bethesda has mostly been the combat, production.

Take some notes from Buldurs Gate and the other greats. Look at RDR2 to add some open world inspiration on when it comes to random NPC interactions etc. They have the money to do it.

Improve animations, fascial animations especially and voice acting too. They could go the safe route or they could truly take it to the next level
