I love Vanillaware, but sadly their games never have been big sellers. As a reference, this is a great launch for their numbers.
that's actually pretty good for a VWare game. I'll pick it up later in the year when I have more time

Those are great numbers.
In Japan sales got hampered aswell due to low physical stock.
Will pick it up , got too much to play for the next few weeks.

Bought it on PS myself, just havent had the time to play yet with the sheer quantity of big high quality games from japan this year so far.
Japan went crazy this year. I’m still busy with Rebirth, 100 hours later. Had to import Unicom but it’s def on my list to play this year along with Granblue too.

Between like a dragon and rebirth had like 150 hours and then a few smaller backlog games so far with multiplayer mixed in. Still also have to start playing Persona 3 and Granblue as well. If Japan doesnt win game of the year this year, then undoubtedly game awards are rigged against JRPGS

Still the highest rated game and nothing comes close.
There's Balatro but that's probably not going to win GotY but instead be sweeping in the Strategy/Indie/Best Debut Game categories unless something else comes out in that space.
