CGMagazine - Justin Wood - 6 / 10

Until Dawn Remake is a painful reminder that change isn’t always good. A poor totem system, bad performance and clunky controls really hold it back from joining other great remakes of late.
Evilgamerz - Jeroen Janssen - Dutch - 8.5 / 10

Until Dawn is a pleasure to play again, even after all those years that I played the game before. It feels fairly new again in that respect. However, it must be emphasized that the game is finished after about 6 hours. Yes, you can play the game again with different choices and get a different course, but it still feels annoying to have to go through certain scenarios that are quite static and less dynamic. I doubt that you will play the game three times or more. However, you have to pay a full amount of money for that. However, Until Dawn is graphically the best movie game we have seen so far and it is clear that they largely started again on the Unreal Engine 5. It stutters a bit every now and then towards 25 fps, but with the much improved graphics, all the DualSense and UI improvements, Until Dawn feels like a new person.
GAMES.CH - Benjamin Braun - German - 78%

Until Dawn remains a great adventure that feels like a teenie-slasher movie you can play yourself. Beside some technically issues it looks great within the new engine, but does not improve enough to make it a worth buy if you already played the PS4 original. But if you didn't play it yet, like the Quantic-Dream-like gameplay concept and horror movies as well, you are going to enjoy the remastered version from the start to the end.
GamingBolt - Shubhankar Parijat - 8 / 10

Though it's hard not to see the validity of criticisms over its pricing and and questions over whether it even needed to be made, the Until Dawn remake is ultimately a solid and enhanced new version of a modern horror classic.
GamingTrend - Henry Viola - 75 / 100

The Until Dawn remake is a bit of a mixed bag overall. While it breathes new life into a beloved horror classic, offering a revamped experience, it also loses sight of some of what made the original so special. It's a splendid upgrade in some areas and a massive downgrade in others. Find out for yourself if you can stomach the horrific asking price.
Hobby Consolas - Alberto Lloret - Spanish - 79 / 100

The update of Until Dawn for PS5 and PC is not a bad game: it shines visually, despite flaws such as exaggerated gestures, firecrackers or not exceeding 30 fps, leaving a more realistic visual feast than on PS4. Too bad that the price is not tighter, like that of other remakes or remasters, because the perception of many players would change.
IGN Spain - Rafa Del Río - Spanish - 8 / 10

Until Dawn returns taking advantage of all the muscle of PS5 and current PCs. A horror game that we fell in love with in 2015 and now, almost 10 years later, still works just as well. Eight playable characters, many mysteries to discover and a story that branches according to our decisions are still the basis of a proposal that exploits the theory of chaos and the butterfly effect to the fullest. Some old mistakes come back with all the goodies and many improvements to create the best version of the game that we can play today
Press Start - Brodie Gibbons - 8 / 10

Until Dawn is a thrilling experience. For horror fans, this will be one of the best horror experiences that gaming has seen in years. It's a perfect balance of story telling and gameplay and doesn't drag on at all. I constantly found myself wanting to go back to find out what happened next which is rare in gaming narrative. Those looking for constant action may be disappointed, but I'd advise anybody who wants a unique and new experience to give it a go.
Push Square - Sammy Barker - 6 / 10

Until Dawn drags a contemporary classic into a new generation, and its interactive teen slasher silliness more than holds up today. With vastly enhanced graphics and minor gameplay upgrades, this is still a highly recommended game. The problem is it costs three times as much as its nine-year-old predecessor, and doesn't have an upgrade path. For all of its grisly glamour, that makes this remake a tough sell – especially when it runs at half the frame rate of its predecessor when played using PS5 backwards compatibility.
Stevivor - Steve Wright - 3.5 / 10

Again, the issue here is that Until Dawn didn’t need a remaster. Or a remake. I would wholeheartedly recommend everyone reading this buy and play the 2015 original, and I would equally recommend you banish this remake from your mind to never think of again. Fun fact: one image in this article is from the original and not the remake. Have fun deciding which is which!
Uagna - Chiara Ferrè - Italian - 7.8 / 10

Until Dawn entertained in 2015, it entertains today in the same way. Despite sometimes naive writing and an overly intelligible plot, it is a narrative game with the right pace, based on well-crafted atmospheres and an excellent cast. The usual problems remain, but the Supermassive title returns today in a remake capable of modernizing the experience from a graphic point of view, offering even more expressive character models and suggestive plays of light. However, it is a story already seen and known, which may not be worth the expense if you expect substantial changes pad in hand. If you don't know this title (and maybe you're looking for something to do with friends on Halloween), proceed with the purchase without hesitation!

Bruh whoever is scoring this 7 or above is just a corpo slave,

Why are you so salty?

Doesn’t suit your agenda?

Should the game get low scores because we didn’t need it or because it released on PC?

Along with its technical faults it is not a 6/10.

No surprises Stevivor gave it a 3.5/10.

It's getting great reviews. The original was good and the best in the genre so I don't see why a full remake would score worse. Lots of nitpicks new users shouldn't notice.

I'll play it eventually.

Metal gear solid twin snakes is a thing.

Exceptions don’t make the rules.

Even then you are comparing apples to oranges.

Twin Snakes was a complete overhaul for the worse.

Until Dawn Remake is the same game in a new engine with technical faults mostly coming from the engine used.

is the whole game like this because the remaster looks worse

No the remake has time dependent lighting unlike the original.

In the original the lighting is the same whether Afternoon, Evening or Night.

That’s what you are seeing here.

Its not just the lighting though, its that the model and animations at least in that cutscene look worse

It doesn’t.

Go watch a real comparison video rather than looking at a tweet.

We know what the agenda is here.

The game has sold like shit on PC. You need an excuse to prove why that was the case.

From ‘Technical’ to ‘Late release so no hype’ all the way to ‘Price’ and ‘PSN login’.

All Sony games have sold like shit on PC except Helldivers 2.

The vast majority were technical marvels.

i'm not making claims about why it sold how it did or pushing some agenda, I saw a comparison video of a cutscene and wondered why the model looks worse
And now I'm looking at this and like
Changing the fixed camera to an over-the-shoulder perspective also kinda sucks from an art direction point of view? Like isn't the game going for a movie feel?
Though the more I look at this it isn't all bad, some of the models do look a lot better.
I think getting rid of the fixed lighting was a bad idea though because now you get shit like this

And also this??????

Thank you, this makes the remaster look less like a downgrade and more like a mixed bag with some room for improvement in updates. A lot of the character models do look a lot better and sometimes the new lighting system does actually look better, especially with the lack of shadow aliasing that's present in the original. I still question the new lighting and camera from an artistic design standpoint, but by in large the remaster looks quite impressive in places. If they could improve the framepacing, particularly on the pre-rendered cutscenes, which is totally possible via an update, this seems a lot less "bad" than I initially took it for from the comparisons I was seeing.

You're right the nail polish is different, PC gamers don't like that color that's why it's number 63 on steam. Ruined 🙄
I was referring to the model in the video on the phone, which is a lot more than "different nail polish". Nor was I making a point about a reason for its sales or anything like that. I have no foot in this race, I don't care about sales very much and I primarily play JRPGs so this is outside my general realm.
I just, I dunno, I'd rather play the original version of the game if I were to play it. I think. I don't know anymore honestly Muddasar's video made it seem a lot less bad than my initial impressions and watching footage of it actually makes the game look kinda cool. I wouldn't mind sitting down for a cinematic horror experience sometime.

Don’t get me wrong.

It is a poor remake but the people saying it looks worse than the original are talking nonsense.

I agree, the game does need a few updates.

I don;t really care about this game but what's with that Justin Wood review? It's not good because other games were remade better? How does that make sense?
