  • Warner Bros’ gaming revenue nosedived by 41% this quarter year-on-year.
  • This was primarily due to Suicide Squad performing poorly compared to Hogwarts Legacy’s solid results last quarter.
  • Following recent losses, the publisher may sell off part of its gaming division to recoup losses.
After holding it responsible for $200 million in losses last quarter, the publisher has once again used Suicide Squad as the main reason behind its lower-than-expected gaming revenue.

Why it matters:
Suicide Squad was in the works for multiple years. It was also created by the same team that pioneered the Batman Arkham series, leading to high expectations from both the fans and Warner Bros.

I remember reading about the success of Hogwarts and what WB took from that - time to focus more on GAAS. It was a truly head-scratching take and now they're in a position where they might have to sell off part of their gaming division. Not surprised the suits there made such stupid decisions, though. Imagine having the team that made the Batman games make something like Suicide Squad. That's what sucks the most. The developers and other personnel who lose their jobs because of idiotic executives who don't have a clue (or care) about what customers actually want.

such a waste.
The game is crap but they did amazing work on the character models and the world itself.... GaaS ruined it really.

Did they just buy the multiversus dev? Thought that was a bit strange considering that relaunch is a bust. That is unless they’re happy with these numbers; which they might be for a “fighter.”

Exactly, and the Arkham trilogy in totality took less time to develop than just Suicide Squad did on its own....What a waste, they could've released 2-3 great selling single player games in the same time it took to make SS that flopped miserably.

And this is why I don't feel bad about bashing gaas and I don't like that Sony is also choosing to focus more on it. Some people on this site actually try to gaslight others into liking gaas 🤡

All it does is kill real creativity and results in less products for consumers...No one benefits except for shareholders
