There’s clearly a demand for more internal storage cards for Xbox this generation, so we asked Dennenwaldt why there weren’t more beyond WD Black and Seagate’s offerings. “It’s because it’s just not that easy,” he explains, “we’re not talking about a standard interface. It’s a proprietary interface that only fits the Xbox Series X|S.

“That’s something Microsoft owns,” he continues, “so you have to work with Microsoft to come to an agreement so you can have a licensed product. That’s something that takes a lot of time, and that’s probably why there are not more companies offering a product.

Another awful decision by Phil and Jason Ronald

The fact that a PS5 compatible 4TB SSD is HALF the cost of a 2tb Xbox SSD is insane. Especially when Xbox is using outdated, cheaper and slower pcie gen 3 ssd’s….but hey at least you don’t have to use a screwdriver 🤦‍♂️

Appearantly the one used in shit box is the 2242, not 2230, so it is even more expensive to buy because of low availability.

Also the internal SSD got HWID locked, so you can't replace the damn drive without getting soft locked, genius idea.

When I first saw the simplicity of plugging in a drive like that I thought that's cool but like you have pointed out, the cost of the damn things is beyond disgusting.

This is one of the most terrible, fuck your fanbase of fans I think Microsoft could have done.

When you look at the cost of Sony's solution and them basically putting their gamers and their wallets first, Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves.
