What will be GOTY in 2024?

A lot of good stuff announced so far but no 10/10 easy GOTY announced yet. In 2023 and 2022 the popular choices were well known in advanced, now it seems kind of a mystery as to what megaton games are releasing next year.

This is whats announced so far:

• ‘Princess Peach is starring in a new game’
• Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
• Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League
• Hollow Knight Silksong

• Prince of Persia Lost Crown
• Star Wars Outlaws
• AVATAR (if it gets delayed)
• Earth blade
• The Plucky Squire
• Skate Story
• Black Myth Wukong
• Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
• Metaphor ReFantazio
• Persona 4 Reloaded
• Witchfire
• Arc Raiders

Honestly, feels like what will end up winning hasn’t been announced yet. None of those games feel like GOTY stuff unless its another 2021

Hollow knight has a shot to be nominated. Plucky squire might sneak in. Looking at that list I think FF7R has the best shot, but that's a pretty weak year. There's gotta be more games than that.

Impossible to say since so much has yet to be announced. Wolverine and Ghost of Tsushima 2 *might* be 2024. I could see GoT2 winning if it's 2024. If I had to pick one of it'd be FF7 Rebirth

My bet in amount of GOTY awards:
Top 1 - Cory's new IP
Top 2 - Wolverine
Top 3 - Marathon
Top 4 - Concord
Top 5 - Rise of the Ronin

-After that people will still complain here that Sony and PS5 has no games
-Hellblade 2 gets released in late 2025 or H1 2026 if longer than half a dozen hours.

Wolverine and Ghost of Tsushima 2 *might* be 2024. I could see GoT2 winning if it's 2024.

I see Wolverine being released H2 2024. Tsushima was released in July 2020, GoT Legends in late 2020 and GoT DC in August 2021.

Considering each generation games need more time, I see GoT for late 2025 the earliest, being 2026 more realistic. And this is in case GoT Legends and DC were handled by a 2nd team different to the main one who just after the original GoT1 launch jumped directly to GoT2.

What I see realistic for 2024 is a GoT PC port by Nixxes and a TLOU2DC first for PS5 early 2024 and PC late 2024 mostly handled by Iron Galaxy and Sony Visual Arts reusing TLOUP1 stuff.

There is no way ghosts 2 is 2024. Holiday 2025 earliest, 2026 is a safer bet

Ghost 2? I doubt it, it will probably get announced this year for 2025. I think Rise of The ronin will be the big samurai game next year, along with Assassins Creed Red.

Wolverine, im not counting on it, insomniac are beasts but thats asking a bit much, feels like an early 2025 game.

I think Death Stranding may have a shot. If they show a trailer for TGS/Gamescom i believe it will be 2024, if its a game awards trailer again its 2025.

Maybe Factions comes out, maybe Team Asobi, Bluepoint, Housemarque have something. I don’t think we will get anything substantial from the big 5 studios.

Wolverine, im not counting on it, insomniac are beasts but thats asking a bit much, feels like an early 2025 game.

It was announced in 2021, 3 years would be the longest announcement -> release cycle for Insomniac. And they started development in 2020. It’s a completely different team from Spider-Man 2 so I don’t think it’s asking for too much.

It would be the perfect PS5 Pro launch title bundle game

Going by that least Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth seems like the strongest game.
