Am I the only GoW fan that doesn't want Kratos hopping from mythology to mythology and becoming endlessly milked? I think that's a bad idea and devalues Kratos' character development.

Like the first video mentioned, I would really love a prequel to GoW 2018 on Kratos journey from Greece/Olympus to Scandinavia/Midgard. I think that would be amazing. I also wouldn't mind an Atreus game. I don't think Thor is dead, every other dead character was on the floor and left bloody while Thor just disappeared. I suspect the next game will be centered around Atreus, Angrboda, Thrudd, and Sindri and I think it could be great if they do it right.

I just hope Eric Williams improves at his game directing because Ragnarok was an amazing game with poor pacing. We didn't need to spend 2.5 hours playing as Atreus and collecting fruit, there had to be a better way to flesh out his character as well as learning more about Angrboda and the giants. Ragnarok ending battle was also too rushed, anticlimactic, and underwhelming. Those 2 were the only low points of the game.

I think a prequel game would be ideal, we need to learn more about the Asgardians. Baldur, Heimdall, Odin, and Thor are some of the best written video game antagonists ever. Such complex and amazing characters deserve a lot more screen time. A prequel game could tie into how Kratos arrived in Midgard, how the Asgardian gods behaved and operated, and the full story of who Faye really was. She went toe to toe with Thor and survived, that definitely needs to be elaborated on more.

Wouldn't mind a new helm for the series and definitely a new mythology. Not high on Eric Williams after Ragnarok. And I wouldn't trust a spin-off ala Ascension, even if the quality is there. It will not be received quite like a mainline entry that much is certain. He did volunteer for a Castlevania game so I do find common ground there - and I wouldn't mind at all.

Ragnarok end-game payoff didn't live to the hype. The Thor-Kratos final fight was a wimp, a small, circled arena fight.... instead of something akin to God of War III's Poseidon fight in terms of spectacle and impact or even Baldur's fight which changed arena's so as to give that spectacle punch. The build up to the Thor/Odin fight was right, the pay-off just didn't land. Having Odin's fight be in an enclosed space was also imo a fat mistake.

Why do people keep referencing the poseiden fight? It wasnt even that amazing. It was just a bunch of QTE and fighting water tentacles.

The Baldur fight was way better

Gods are fighting, not brawlers with magic tricks. Impact and scale = gods. Simple equation for why scale matters in god fights - expectations.

As much as I'd want to rip apart another pantheon of gods in another mythology as Kratos, I don't think it should be done.

Kratos' character development means a lot to me now. The last scene in Ragnarok when he sees the mural and almost breaks down was beautiful and gut-wrenching. I shed a tear on that, considering how far Kratos has come.

I'm also at a stage of my life where I can relate to Kratos. I want to be better.

And to completely undo everything, only for Kratos to go on another killing spree would be unfair to him.

I think Santa Monica needs to make Atreus games and make him a badass adult character (not restrict him to being a teen). They can do some super cool stuff with his magical and transformational abilities.

If they want to make Kratos games, those will have to be prequels.

Prequel would be nice until PS6.

I have a feeling they are gonna take it 1st person or VR

People asking for character development… Kratos‘s evolution has been great but I couldnt care less. I dont want less GOW games because people are afraid on Kratos not evolving anymore. He can just whoop bad guys as far as I care, as long as the game is fun and epic

I'd like to see Kratos, now that he has worshippers, slowly become the thing he hated about Gods. Power hungry and corrupted, maybe he slowly begins to try to take over other mythological realms. Maybe there is something fundamental to being worshipped that corrupts gods

Maybe then there is a new god killer out for Kratos, maybe it's Atreus or a new character. Or maybe you still play Kratos perspective as a seemingly unstoppable god killer hunts him

Alternatively I'd like to see Kratos essentially becoming an all father figure. A few hundred years later with dozens of God children in addition to Atreus, and all of them have become a bit fucked in the head like their dad. Could set off some interesting stories

This is easy, before getting to Midgard Kratos was in Egypt. There's an official comic. Just expand that into a couple or three games and presto.

They need to just retire Kratos and have his kid take over. As much as I like the guy he's starting to feel stale.

Atreus taking over would instantly kill the franchise 🤣

Ragnarok would’ve been a better game if his stages were gut entirely too.

Killing title characters and setting things in Japan are the very best of terrible typical forumgoer ideas.

God of War is Kratos.
This all just bullshit, character growth.. fuck off with all this bullshit, because in the end it is going to be shit boring like Spider Man. I am good guy etc.. most cliche..

Leave Kratos as is, he is a warrior, he is rage, he is fighter, he is destroyer, he is a god killer.. not some ass weak pussy..

Very few wants Atreus dlc, let alone full game. It would kill God of War name if it would be associated with it.

Nope, Kratos is not a destroyer anymore. Being a good person and not wanting to kill doesn't mean you're weak and it doesn't mean you're not a warrior. He's still a fighter, he just redirects his rage and fights for things that actually matter....Did you not pay attention to GoW 3 ending? Or any of GoW 2018? Kratos changing his ways isn't new....

He has pretty much always been the good guy since he accidentally killed his family.

The camera is too close in these new games to give us the same sense of spectacle during combat.

I hope they give us more perspective in the next game. GoW 1, 2 and 3 are still very addictive/visceral/satisfying to play, much more than the new ones imo.

I would take behind back camera but more free and combat a bit closer to original. Then, do epic scale bosses and badass level design.

The new camera does provide some restrictions but I do prefer this camera to the old one big time. With this camera it does become a tad more complex but as with the Baldur Fight in the first one, it can be done, provided enough effort, creativity and dev time is given to the fight(s).

The Poseidon right may not have been very technical but it's about the execution and offering the player a sense of scale and power linked to these gods. It maybe Kratos look and feel small but also showing us how brutal and dangerous Karatos himself is.

I miss moments like that in gaming an this Franchise. Final Fantasy 16 tried to bring that feeling back and even Spiderman 2 to an extent.
