Anyone remember this?
I’ve been playing a lot of PS2 games lately, and almost all of them use Triangle as the back button as opposed to Circle like we’re used to today. (Or X in Japan)
I wonder why this was the case, and I double wonder why it eventually switched to Circle? At first I thought it was just so devs didn’t have to swap X and O for US/JP releases, but that doesn’t make sense because the confirm button will be different either way.
So why WAS Triangle the de-facto back/cancel button during the 6th generation? And why did it change to Circle during the 7th gen? Post your theories below.
