I wouldn't say it's inexcusable. Disappointing certainly, but not inexcusable...and as far as wanting them, for me it's like a personal record of my activity.

It’s not the end of the world for me, but as far as I’m aware it’s the first game on my PS5 that doesn’t have them, so a little odd in the game list ^^’ I enjoy trophies for guidance to random in-game tasks I might not otherwise think to attempt; Grandia feels like it would have a few opportunities for side-task trophies - what I find more off in this release though is it feels less robustly put-together than the Switch release, on there the graphics feel a bit refined, perhaps?

The original Japanese release was published by Entertainment Software Publishing. Two years later, Sony published it on NA. And a year later more, Ubisoft published it in EU.

Nowadays it's published by GungHo because they bought Game Arts, the studio who developed it and owned the IP. So they are the ones who decide where and how -in this case if implementing trophies or not- Grandia games get released.

They still didn't realize that to properly localize their game to more languages like Spanish would help them sell more. So I assume that maybe they don't know what they can put trophies there.

Honestly, Imagesoft had high production values back then. But no, their games usually didn't stand the test of time.
