Why PS5 Is Succesful Without "True" Exclusive Games

Because it's following up on the PS4 success and momentum, the market takes time to adjust and because Xbox managed to completely implode and die.

Being a much worse place to play in comparison to PC won't go unnoticed for long and just pushing a false slogan like "best place to Play" ain't going to cut it.

This guy won't even criticize Sony for stuff like this since he is dependent on PlayStation for his channel. The reality is the only true exclusivity PS5 users will have going forward is being charged a subscription for online and cloud saves.

Sony bootlickers are going to keep making excuses until you end up like green rats, because in the end you are all the same.

As usual MysticRyan did a great job. Analyzed the topic from the different points of view, based almost exclusively on a lot of informed, well researched factual data.

Awesome video.

There are true exclusives games on PS5....
  • Astro's Playroom
  • The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR
  • Demon's Souls
  • Destruction AllStars
  • Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
  • Horizon Call of the Mountain
  • Quantum Error
  • Rise of the Rōnin
  • Silent Hill: The Short Message
  • Spider-Man 2
  • Stellar Blade
Please watch the video.

He analizes the different type of exclusives: by "true" he means pure PS5 only games. He also analyzes crossgen PS4+PS5 exclusives, consoles exclusives that also end in PC or rival consoles, or even temporal. He also talks about the VR ones or 3rd party ones, both AAA or small ones.

He also analyzed the progression of which type of exclusives are more common now vs before (basically they focus way less on "full", "true" exclusives compared to before), and how their results changed (spoiler: basically improved in any area).

Meaning that yes, the main type of exclusivity has been changing, but continues having a ton of exclusives of other types that looking at the results players also seem to value, so they do the job. And that, combined with other factors he also analyzed, made the PS5 more successful than previous generations.

Its success doesn't rely on the "true" exclusives as some people think.

It's succeeding if you measure it against PS4 and have no ambitions for growth.

PS4 sold 117 to 119 million consoles.

If I had any ambition as a Sony executive, I'd want to hit 140 million install base this generation.

The price of the hardware and the reasons to own one are not enabling this right now.

Putting profits before growth will have long lasting impacts on the future of PS in gaming.

Because there is nothing better and has no competition

Switch has few great exclusives but the hardware is outdated and so lacks 3 rd party support

Xbox... Well you know

That being said PS5 is great console, the SSD and Dual sens are great innovations, but it lacks when it comes to games, Sony should have focused more on Stellar Blade like games than those random gaas

It's all about identity.
PlayStation is a well known and trusted Brand for console gaming over decades now.
If you had a PlayStation 1 or 2 as a kid, you likely ending up buying a PS5 for some console gaming in you adults free time.
PlayStation has the bigger and aggressive marketing and the PS Logo and button symbols are iconic.

PlayStation is for the majority of the world like iPhone for US, it's the choice of the general public.
Things like exklusivs and power doesn't matter if you just need a machine to play your Fortnite and CoD rounds. So you buy the next thing you know it's just works, and it's for the most people the PlayStation.

Maybe exclusives don't matter it the short term but that identity was build overtime by the things PlayStation did different, now it's just 99% like Xbox and Xbox fucking sucks.

Still not watching, I prefer my PlayStation media people to be mostly positive. They dont have to be flaming fanboys but less negativity would be nice. All Mystic does is talk Reset Era talking points and even a lot of them disagree with this vid.

He’s right about the brand power. That’s something way more powerful than any exclusive

Just a reminder that the xbox one outsold the xbox 360 for a while before the lack of games killed it.

Anyone who thinks this is sustainable is only fooling themselves.

Was that just year one where the 360 was severely supply-constrained?
