Will Switch 2 finally be the Nintendo System that let's us buy GameCube games again?

So obviously with the Wii being Backwards compatible with the GameCube and the Wii Shop Channel having some big file size restrictions like 40Mbs for WiiWare Games:

there was no chance of GameCube Games coming to Wii Digitally and the same with even regular Wii Games.

However with the Wii U we had our first chance to have GameCube Games added to the Virtual Console and even one insider claiming that to be the case.
Retro Gamer says GameCube titles are coming to the Wii U VC

Then Once the GameCube Controller Adapter was announced for Super Smash bros. For Wii U people go there hopes up only for once again GameCube Games getting snubbed from the Wii U eShop.

Then when the Nintendo NX was coming we had people like Digital Foundry speculating if GameCube games could come to the Switch

but alas. nearly 8 years later and still no signs of GameCube coming to Nintendo Online.
now with the Switch 2, Nintendo has vastly grown their digital presence and GameCube nostalgia has been booming lately so will we finally see Nintendo bring GameCube to the Switch 2 online like they did for NES, SNES, N64?

I will never forget reading this right before the Wii U launch!

Also Happy 26 year Anniversary to the Gameboy Color, 23 year Anniversary to the GameCube, and 12 Year Anniversary to the Wii U in North America!

The Switch can already emulate Gamecube games and even Wii games (see its handling of Mario Sunshine and Mario Galaxy); the Switch 2 will probably get Gamecube games as part of NSO.

MGGA! Make Gaycube great again!

But seriously, if Nintendo became a full-fledged 3rd party venue, it could slap Sony in the face and they would stop dreaming about the mythical “expansion and growth”.

I shudder at the idea of what Nintendo may want as a subscription price for the GameCube portion of NSO. The service already has 2 separate versions that include different platforms.

hopefully gamecube games are released like virtual console on Wii and Wii U.
I would love to rebuy Luigi's Mansion 1 and buy Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes for the first time.

If we look at chinese handhelds from Powkiddy, Anbernic or Retroid, it's mostly single-threaded CPU performance that determines whether or not it's capable of running emulators for home or handheld consoles.

For example, the PowKiddy RGB30 with a RK3566 4x Cortex A55 @ 1.8GHz isn't capable of emulating the Gamecube or Playstation 2, but the much more expensive Anbernic RG Cube with a T820 4x A78 @2.3-2.7GHz runs Dolphin like butter.

My guess is the Switch with the Cortex A57@ 1GHz wasn't going to be much faster than the A55@ 1.8GHz, if at all, so it really couldn't.

Now with the Switch 2 we should expect a Cortex A78 but we don't know at what clocks. I'm guessing it'll go up to 2GHz, and that should be enough to emulate the Gamecube and the Wii.

I assume Nintendo will choose a cheap ass hardware, but if I would be them I'd make it powerful enough to emulate flawlessly GameCube, Wii, WiiU, DS and 3DS as other portables do.

That would help Nintendo to refurbish old stuff considering it's going to be BC so wouldn't make sense to emulate / refurbish (for the 2390320423th time old games already emulated / refurbished for Switch 1).

Those were recompiled to run on the Switch's CPU.

I doubt it. Those are "modern enough" to get stand-alone remakes/remasters. It was never about being strong enough to emulate a Gamecube. Even the Wii U could do that, it was about what Nintendo wants to give and what Nintendo wants to sell.

Yes, they were meant to bring gamecube games over ages ago. Like virtual store

Outside of Zelda WW/TP, Metroid Prime 2 there isnt that many big remaster ports left from gamecube

yeah The switch and Wii U can play gamecube games via pirates. I dont think thats emulation, but some kind of BC— GC—>Wii—>Wii U?
