Will the reaction to this year's state of play be as bad as the reaction to last year's showcase if it's the same level of quality?

Last year everyone was pissed at the crappy showcase due to lack of big new announcements for Sony's 1st party games. I don't expect them to change that here, but a common sentiment was that "they should have called it a state of play instead"

So if they put out another show of last year's quality, will people be less mad?

If they put another show of last year's quality they are just taking the piss. This is a state of play, so we shouldn't expect much, but they have to show something, they have released ONE PS Studios game (from their own studios) since December 2022. ONE.

I actually do think people will be less upset. The expectations are a lot different with a showcase and SoP. Then again, people love being mad about everything so who knows lol I think Astro will at least be a buffer for folks. The showcase was a barrage of GaaS titles and this was coming off a lot of certainty and anger about Sony's live service strategy.

It's nice to have an update, but yer expectations for me this time are not high.
