Xbox 360 launched 18 years ago and was a generation-defining console that invited many people to jump into gaming for the first time and connect with friends around the world. We’re thrilled people continue playing their favorite Xbox 360 games on Xbox 360, or on newer consoles via Backward Compatibility for supported titles.

As we shared last August, we have a change coming to the Xbox 360 experience. Starting on July 29, 2024, Xbox will stop supporting the ability to purchase new games, DLC, and other entertainment content from the Xbox 360 Store on the console and the Xbox 360 Marketplace (marketplace.xbox.com).

To celebrate the legacy of Xbox 360, we’re working with our amazing publishing partners to bring you as many price reductions from our online store or from the Xbox 360 Store on the console. We’ll be updating this list with more games on June 18, 2024, and on July 16, 2024, bringing you as many repriced games as possible before the end of July.

Which community? The Xbox one? They aren't buying new games, you think they are going to cry for not being able to buy old ones?
Just remembering the outrage from the Ps3 store. Then again I forgot most of the Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible.

What does this mean for BC?
Nevertheless, shuttering these services doesn't mean you can't play your games anymore. Dave McCarthy, the Corporate VP for Xbox Player Services and now COO for Microsoft Gaming, said, "This change will not affect your ability to play Xbox 360 games or DLC you have already purchased. Xbox 360 game content previously purchased will still be available to play not only [on] the Xbox 360 console but also Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S devices via backward compatibility."

Furthermore, you will still retain access to all the games you bought on the Xbox 360 Store or via the Marketplace. Even if you deleted a previously purchased game, you can still redownload it on your Xbox 360 via the Download History menu in your account's settings. And if you've upgraded to the Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, you can still access your games from the Xbox 360 Store via backward compatibility

I’m not gonna make this into a bigger thing, ive not pulled the 360 out in a while as even when it was new, i thought it would red ring at any moment. Still alot of games trapped on old hardware from all platform holders and need liberation

I hated my Xbox 360, it made me want to buy a PS3. The PS3 was a drastically better console despite all it's flaws.
