It’s down to a 90 and will it most likely go down to an 89. Especially since harsh reviewers like Jimquisition and Edge have yet to submit their reviews.

Also Push Square. They’re supposed to be a PS site, yet they gave it an 8.
PushSquare has been super negative about Sony all generation and were somewhat in favor of MS buying Activision. Not sure what caused them to turn on PlayStation so hard, maybe they're mad about Wired magazine being the first ones to get to cover the PS5 at the start of the gen instead of them.

FWIW the Edge magazine reviewer for the game allegedly tweeted that they love Spider-Man 2. Also, there are so many reviews factored into the average now that mathematically, it would take some pretty low scores to drop it below 90.

I have the feeling Edge will give it a 9.

BTW we need to see it after the all time ranking is fixed… right Spider-Man 2 is near 89… one more review below 90 it drops to 89.

Well that's good to hear. Edge has always been hard to please due to them being labeled as contrarian throughout their publication. I am still leaning on Spider Man 2 going back to 91 or sticking to 90 as set in stone. Moving forward though Metacritic should really do a cut off point for number of reviews. Spider Man 2 has currently 129 reviews that right there is enough to gauge a score.

Jimquisition can also be harsh.

Edge has a different review score system compared to other publications. Edge can love a game and still give it an 8. An 8 to them is great.

Probably a new editor. The people that create these websites end up leaving and other people come. The same thing happened to Dualshockers, the founder was a PS fan, he sells it and now they’re not pro PS anymore.

Just need it to hold at 90 until release day 😅

After that it's whatever no-one will be checking outside of Xbots, word of mouth will offset everything.

Yeah, after release it doesn’t matter to me. It’s like in sports with garbage time scores.

He even tried to say the text was created in May 2023 when it exists in Metacritic since 2010.

Just so we're clear, this is a lie. I never said the text was created in May 2023, I said the ARTICLE was updated/ created on that date.

Their documentation states otherwise, and it was updated 5 months ago.
The evidence - The article was not only updated 5 months ago, that's when it was created! Fucking amazing
😂
. These lads likely set up their help center this year and added fresh new articles.

You have been reported to the moderation. You can be right and I can be wrong, but you will not put words on my keyboard.

Meta doesn't give unscored scores since they started to show unscored reviews in the site 🤷‍♂️
The text in the site you quoted is very old.

Like I said you just looks dumb doing that.

5 months ago was when Metacritic created the new site.
That text come from the old site.

Beaten again lol
Waybackmachine have the same text since 2010 lol

Edit - Come back to reply? I think you are not shamed enough?

You're welcome.

OpenCritic was developed to avoid some of the controversies that Metacritic has gained in the video game industry. A game's Metacritic score has become strongly attached to the financial performance of a game and subsequent efforts of the development studio and publisher, such as affecting post-release studio bonuses. However, Metacritic provides limited details of how it calculates its review scores, and uses weighted averaging that favors some publications over others, leading many to criticize the heavy weight that the industry puts on the site.

Gives more weight to some sites than others.
Lack of transparency on how the average is calculated.
Put more reviews for Sony games, less for Nintendo and much less for Microsoft.
Giving different ratings to cross-platform games (even though they're 99% the same on PlayStation, Xbox and PC).

With the Metacritic system, everything is skewed.
