The ink is probably drying as we speak

Is it a coincidence they decided to take that photo behind the PS5 controllers? I think not.
Future first party studio? They are working on 1st party (well, 2nd party) game. I assume if it works well they'll may ask them for more games, and maybe could buy them. Like haven they have a ton of very experienced and talented staff who previously worked on severeal top games/studios, but I think it's too early to talk about 'future first party studio'.

After the Haven and Bungie acquisition never say never.

The days of organic growth are long gone with Microsoft gobbling massive publishers.

If Sony are impressed with their IP, they will acquire them just like Haven.

Just my 2 cents.

What is your guess?

Not sure, this is what they said late last year:

m has been working through a rigorous post-production period but is now ready to begin work on their first game. He explains that the team's name "Deviation" came from his and the team's desire to move away from the normal, humdrum, same-y games that have permeated the landscape for so many years. Blundell's hope is that Deviation's newest title is instantly recognizable from screenshots and something that will stand out during a conference or E3-type showing.

Doesn’t sound to me like they will be emulating the BLOPS/COD formula, sounds like they want something more in the realm of valorant/Apex/Overwatch/Destiny that really has its own identity. I also think directly competing with CoD is probably just a fools errand at this point. I think thats why games like MAG failed.

You gotta bring something new and innovative to the table. Make COD formula feel old

Yeah, and the pressure is on with the risk factor of leasing CoD.

It’s hard for me to imagine sony scoring a hit FPS or what appears may be a hit FPS on their console and not just locking them up cheap.

Sony continues with their organic growth: all their existing internal teams continue growing and most of their recent acquisitons are people who had a long story working for them of making deals with them. Like Bungie, Housemarque, Firesprite, Fabrik, Bluepoint, Lasengle or Valkyrie.

They have Bungie or Guerrilla and also working for on 2nd party games for them they have Firewalk or Deviation. I think not all of them are working on FPS, but I bet that at least one of the games these teams are working on right now (not counting Destiny 2) will be a hit FPS or TPS.

But not their last acquisition Haven which was acquired simply because Sony was impressed with their concept.

Nothing to say Deviation Games won't be the same if they impress.

Sony obviously are being more proactive with their acquisitions with Microsoft, Tencent, Embracer and others breathing down their neck.

These Deviation guys should show their game, all this promotion without a game is weird.

They haven’t really done any promotion, they are building their studio space, culture and recruiting. I think they just started production this year.

You gotta make your establishment look like a fun environment to get talent, thats why they announced their playstation partnership last year
