Cross buy won’t happen as long as there is a separate studio doin the ports. Not until unified development and day and date launches. And even then… I don’t see it happening. Cross-save and save migration would be nice.

Friggin cdpr still can’t save migration to work with cyberpunk… amateurs

are they suggesting crossbuy? how does that help with profits

It helps them by providing an incentive for people to buy their games on Sony store instead of Steam and also alows them to sell third party games for people that value crossbuy.

well whatever it is cross-buy for ps5 and PC games makes no sense to me , they would want ppl to double dip rather than cross-buy

Also depends on game and genre. Game itself could require double dip but in-game transactions, season passes, could be cross platform.

However if developing a pc port requires any additional manpower whatsoever, like requiring an entirely separate studio like Nixxes to do the work… then pc ports should not be free. I don’t agree gamer charity — game devs have to eat too.

Why does it make sense for MS but not for Sony?

To me crossbuy makes perfect sense and is one of the biggest advantahe Sony would have on the PC space.

Buckle up salty bitches, PC always wins.

Apart from I still can’t officially play loads of good games on there. Or day 1 games from Playstation, Nintendo, Rockstar, which are arguably amogst the best studios/publishers in the world.

PC gamers the type of people to say PC is the best place to play games even back in 2013 when they didn’t have games like Halo 3/Reach, Gears, Skyward Sword, Uncharted 1-3, Red Dead Redemption, TLOU, Forza, Demon Souls, MG4, Mario Galaxy, Lost odessy and lots more.

I mean they basically missed out on the best games of the generation at the time outside of Dark Souls and Skyrim.
But because there £1000+ machine could play Asscreed at 60fps and 1080p they thought its the best place to play games

Sony only published 3 old games developed by them and announced the port of 3 more. PC is far from being a PlayStation.

Expect a Sony first party game to launch day and date on PC by or before 2024.

Live service games? Sure. AAA single player game? Not happening.
Do multiplayer games count? Because I could've sworn that was a given, honestly.
I'm willing to bet by Q3-2023, fight me

According to Sony they don't plan to release games on PC at launch. And according a graph they shared, they plan to continue zero PS+PC games in both the 2022-2023 and 2025-2026 fiscal years.

Until now they released a new generation of consoles every 7 years, meaning they may release PS6 around 2027. So I bet there won't be any Sony developed game released day one on PC this generation.

For any kind of game. This includes single player, multiplayer, GaaS and non-GaaS games. I think ther can be an exception: MLB if its licensor demands its version in the same way they did with the other console versions.

Not sure if they plan on doing that. They make it sound like they won’t be adding PSN trophies to their PC games.

Sounds like they’re working on adding more into Steam, or maybe a basic launcher.
Well, I think it makes a lot of sense to have same ecosystem for them across multiple platforms if they publish games on multiple platforms with their PSN PC store (skipping the revenue share that Steam and Epic get), trophies, cross-play multiplayer, cross-save, (ideally cross-buy too but I don't see it happening fr the medium term, I think it will come later), crossplatform chat/messaging etc.

Once a player has many games on an account/launcher prefers to keep using it. Look at generational transition in consoles: many repeat with the same brand because they have a big catalog there.

By that logic and the amount of games Sony had made for the PS5 so far the PlayStation is barely a PlayStation lol
Bullshit.

Sony released a total of zero new games on PC until now and plans to release a total of zero new games for PC for the current fiscal year and the one that ends in 2026.

Sony plans to release 8 new games on PS for the current fiscal year alone and 14 more for the one that ends in 2026. They also plan to continue releasing every year a few PC ports of games originally released on PS years before.

Their main platform continues and will continue being only PlayStation. For them PC ports of old games is and will continue only being another secondary, smaller extra revenue & profit source. Like mobile games or the movies and tv shows.

Agree on PlayStation not releasing day and date on PC. A few weeks ago I would have said gaas games might release simultaneously on both platform but with the current situation with MS and COD I’m not so sure anymore.

The interesting one for me will be TLOU remake and how long they’ll wait for the PC release. Returnal is another interesting one. I can see them speeding up the ports on PC and releasing them 6 months to a year after their console version to maximize profit. TLOU 2 and Returnal selling less than expected (deserved) might lead them in that direction. Not that I believe that PC sales will make it up for the low console sales but selling these games while their still trending is something they might think about.

Is this more of your picking out based on number of pixels in a graph image ? :D

is my $800+ Sony Xperia 5 iii a joke to you? it has call of duty preinstalled on it
Is it still a slab phone with one screen? I can't go back to using a one screen phone.

Too many apps just log themselves out when they're not the focus app (banking, ps remote play etc.) At least with Surface Duo I can have the offending app on one screen, and still use additional things on phone on other screen.
