They made her look older, which is actually more in line with the story. She looked too young for her character in the original - although that was due to less detailed character models at the time.
They're not ugly. They just look more like real people.

Tbh her being younger would make way more sense. she was able to take down gangs members, zombies and guards. She was also running like a beast. I don't think an old lady would have the stamina and strength to do all of that!!

BTW Leon look is because the game says after RE2 events he barely sleep anymore plus he lose weight.
