Surprisingly even with the Steam Spring Sale taking place it has managed to jump from number 36 to number 9 on the top sellers list in a matter of 24 hours.

Hopefully this bodes well, I already picked it up myself and am looking forward to it.

Update 3/22

Yesterday was the official launch of Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition on PC, which is now available through Steam and the Epic Games Store, but the game had a poor launch on Steam. According to data shared by SteamDB, Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition reached a peak of 25,258 simultaneous players 16 hours ago (the number may rise over the weekend).

With this result, Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition failed to beat the first game, Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, which registered 56,557 simultaneous players at launch. Forbidden West was even behind Days Gone, with 27,450.

On the other hand, Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition managed to beat Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, which had 10,851 simultaneous players at launch.

Between Helldivers, Horizon & Destiny, Sony has a good selection of games in there.
Yup, 4 of the top 13 SKUs are from Sony. Last fiscal year they were top 20 publisher in Steam, I assume this fiscal year they will be way higher in the ranking.

And that's good, they're starting to build consistency and recognition with the community which will help them in the long term.

Giving 30% of the revenue to Valve for their first party offerings is a ridiculous venture. It's what makes Xbox games on PS so laughable. And yet, here we are lol.

If they hit $50 million in sales the percentage drops. Money is money, and their best opportunity is with Steam in this space.

Yeah I know the PC fanboys seems to have a "Steam or Die" attitude for whatever reason (its kind of a terrible piece of software IMO, and only a storefront to boot). Doesn't change the fact I think it's ridiculous. :p

With Helldivers 2 apparently they are selling similar numbers than in PS.This means, let's say they do 100 in PS. With PC, 200. Removing the Steam cut (assuming Sony doesn't have a special deal to pay under the 30%), 170. The difference vs what they did in PS, 100, wasn't to lose 30, it has been earning 70.

Regarding old games like HFW or GoT, they are games that no longer sell (or almost) on PS and are even included in PS+. With ports costing a couple millions and being high priced, selling more than around 60K units in PC they already are generaing profit.

This extra money from PC helps keeping their 1P games profitable and fund more games and something they need: to improve their profitability. Plus some of these new PC players may become fans and end buying later a console to play their other games in the sofa without waiting to see if they port them or not and when.

You guys hating too much on pc launches. They won’t be so front loaded. But the launches will get bigger the closer they are to original console launch. Ragnarok will have a very healthy pc run.

It’s the quality of these releases that keep them evergreen. They will sell.

It's a great piece of software lol, it's the most comprehensive platform in the industry with the best policies. What a weird take.
