Regardless of how obvious it looks now a non insignificant group of people actually believed Xbox had a shot this gen.

Personally, I knew the next Xbox would flop before it was even announced, the Xbox One sucked. I remember there were rummours of Sony having a Series S type console and I despised the idea.

MS was actually pretty lucky, if not for the pandemic and lack of PS5 consoles the Series S would've sold even less, it's an awful console, one of the worst consoles ever. Now Sony get to capitalize on their good decision with the PS5 Pro while Xbox is pretty much dead.

A new gen is not a clean reset, specially now that people have digital libraries.

The difference in quality between the PS4 and Xbox One libraries is staggering, none of that is forgotten when a new gen starts.

The only surprise about the Series consoles is how they were able to fumble pretty much everything, I can't think of a single relevant thing that they got right.

We all know Phil is the architect of this mess, but Satya is also such a dumbass - how has he not forced Phil to scrap Day 1 Game Pass at this point? He's been CEO for 4 years. This is no longer a small sample size situation. The experiment as been run and there's almost a decade of data at this point. GamePass It was a complete and utter catastrophe for Xbox for the console and Xbox revenue. As soon as they closed the ABK deal, he should have forced Xbox to go full 3rd party and start printing money like the US mint. Continuing to let Spencer and Booty waste time and money is only going to get Satya canned as CEO long term

Gamepass was the entire reason Nadella even got dragged into this mess. Xbox missed their projections of where Gamepass would be at this point by a mile.

It won't get better with GTA6 for them unless the PS5 and PS5 Pro go out of stock.

Nobody is going to wabt to Play GTA6 on a Series S.

For those who don't have the money, they can get the Series S, and what's more, by the time GTA comes out, Microsoft will probably have lowered the price. Of course they won't be selling by pallets of them, but chances are the situation will be a bit better than it is at the moment.

Now if GTA6 won't do anything for them then no other game will and that'll be the end of the X/S for good.

No, 4 year into this gen and you still don't get it? People buying consoles arent complete idiots that will only look at price. Any sane person will prefer a $350 PS5 DE over a $250 Series S.

Current price of the Series S 1TB version is awful as well. PS5 DE is far more attractive deal for pretty much anyone than any Series S.

The Series S is garbage and has the worst value of any console in the market that is why it won't sell even at $199. Resale value of the Series S is so bad you can trade a PS4 for one.

Xbox has had a very weak portfolio for a *decade* now. It's not exactly rocket science to see why the hardware has fallen off a cliff.

Xbox never give their players a regular output of quality games (delivery).
Always promised the best year lineup every single year.
Never delivered.

Sometimes in some year released a good game.

There is no way to sustain a platform like that... and I was even surprised that crazy Xbox fans supported it for so long.
