The long-awaited Senua's Saga: Hellblade II arrived on the Xbox ecosystem on the 21st, causing quite an impact among gamers and critics alike. Available on Microsoft's Game Pass, the game is facing some obstacles in terms of sales, when compared to other releases on the service, the situation becomes more complex.

Looking at Hellblade II's performance on Steam via SteamDB, it's clear that the reception from players is very positive. With an average rating of over 84%, the game has been well received in terms of the quality of the experience offered.

To put this into context, games like Starfield peaked at over 330,000 simultaneous players, while Hi-Fi Rush and Redfall reached 6,000 players. These figures highlight Hellblade II's difficulty in capturing the attention of a large audience outside the Game Pass ecosystem.

This raises questions about Microsoft's strategy regarding Game Pass releases. Although Hellblade II's performance outside the service is less impressive, it's important to remember that Microsoft's main bet is to offer releases directly on Game Pass, attracting players to its subscription service.

Well, being a short game available GP day one, and pretty likely coming to PS next year I'd say there aren't enough incentives to buy it on Steam.

Specially when seems it has great visuals but the game and gameplay itself is good but not great.

Not a surprise to see it with low sales on Steam. But well, being a SP game I wouldn't take any conclusions of its CCU and even less without waiting to at least to its first week. Even if yes, the sales aren't great.

Damn, Xbox can't catch a break.

But when i saw that edgelord owner of Ninja theory jump ship, i knew something was up.
Seriously just strike out after strike out. How can any publisher be this bad at releasing games especially when they’re worth 3trillion. Hifirush flop, Motorsport flop, halo flop, redfall flop, star-field not exactly a flop but under preformed, forza Motorsport flop, pentiment flop, avowed will probably flop, tower born is going to flop. There is no hope for south of midnight or the rip off bioshock infinite, Indiana jones. Xbox specializes in unappealing games. U can’t build a brand on bargain bin studios.

Should've stayed independent. Heavenly Sword will be known as thier best game when all said and done. A PlayStation exclusive

It's a shame we never got 2, that game was really fun to play.

Player counts are pathetically low on the game too; peak is still right under 4K.

It's a good "streamer game", in that I've seen streamers get good viewership playing through it. But it's so short, so limited and so linear that the viewership isn't translating into sales. I even doubt it's doing particularly well in Game Pass ATM.

Best of luck and prayers to Ninja Theory going forward.
