Discussion What really is first party nowadays? Definition of first/second/third party games.

Let's take Portal as an example. Can PlayStation produce Portal 3 to launch on their console?

News [Hiroki Totoki] PS5 Pro's pre-orders are "slightly stronger" than PS4 Pro during the same period

2 good games and... Concord. Still some work to do regarding both quantity and quality. You can scratch DS2 from that list, not a 1st party game anymore. And "probably" Venom. So ok, we don't know if they actually are improving anything. One can hope, right? I'm a gamer, not a ChatGPT clone...

They don't own the whole Spider-Man IP, but they own THIS Spider-Man. Nobody but PlayStation can continue THESE games. Similarly how nobody could've continued Activision's Spider-Man games. They can still lose the rights to continue making, of course, same as how it happened with Activision (or...

Discussion DF: after 1 year of concern trolling the ps5 pro on the cpu. DD2 is no longer considered by them

And that they didn't have Pro with disc included, like they sell the Slim. The Slim with Disc is 50 bucks less than buying them separately.

Nintendo still has HAL Laboratory as a "second party" studio. Bloodborne and Demon's Souls are perfect examples for 3rd party developed 1st party games and how IP ownership is the only things which matters. Without IP ownership, PlayStation couldn't have had BluePoint remake Demon's Souls.

News [Hiroki Totoki] PS5 Pro's pre-orders are "slightly stronger" than PS4 Pro during the same period

How exactly is Sony proving me wrong? Did they start improving their gaming output and quality? Have they done some pro-consumer things I'm not aware of? And what malice is behind my prediction? And most importantly: how much will your asshole burn if one of us oh so bad boys is right with...

Discussion What really is first party nowadays? Definition of first/second/third party games.

You are confusing titles and studios. Sackboy Adventures is clearly a 1st party game, but it was developed by a 3rd party studio. Same as the many games developed by HAL for Nintendo. 2nd party doesn't really exist, but it is usually described for games developed by a 3rd party for a...

Why no mentions for your ChatGPT buddy or the other 15 voters in the same range as @thicc_girls_are_teh_best ? What about @Bryank75 having the same prediction as me and the other "interesting" ones?

News Death Stranding IP will now be owned by Kojima Productions

Why should 3rd parties enter an exclusiveness deal when PlayStation themselves are going multiplatform?

Yet you get it wrong. So Call of Duty in Japan has been a 1st party title on PS5. You see how dumb it sounds? What about LEGO Horizon on Switch? Is it a Sony 1st party title?

Discussion What really is first party nowadays? Definition of first/second/third party games.

Very wrong implication. A publisher can publish a game without owning the IP, and if that publisher is a platform holder, it means the game is still 3rd party. IP ownership determines if a game is 1st party or not. Example: PlayStation was the publisher for Call of Duty in Japan for many...

News Death Stranding IP will now be owned by Kojima Productions

Sequels and remakes are not the only things one can do with an IP. It could be a spin-off, it could be a cameo in another game, it could be a movie/show/anime, it could be a soundtrack in the next PlayStation Live Concert. And yes, it could also be a reboot of the franchise without the...

Can't remember, but was the PS4 Pro scalped? I could walk in a GameStop and trade in my old PS4 on launch.

Discussion Sony FY2024 Q2 Earnings Announcement | OT

You have the Xbots saying Sony-too, because Sony has opened the gate of games on other platforms. You have the PCMR folk crying for day-1 and crying for PSN log-ins. You have the Nintendo-fans (rightly) bragging about how Nintendo are the only ones left with exclusive games. And you have the...

I'm saying it too, so don't know what's the problem is with that. You are still not answering a simple question: PlayStation decides to have great variety, but with the power of a Nintendo console to have better profit/reduce costs. Would you be ok with it, yes or no?

News Nintendo Sues Streamer of Emulated, Pre-Released Games

Only a guess, but if they stream a Switch game on emulator (and if maybe the game wasn't even released yet officially, but pirate copies were already circulating), seems very likely that it was pirated.

Discussion Sony FY2024 Q2 Earnings Announcement | OT

Ok, let's assume you have variety (like Nintendo does, but that's not the point and I DID ask regarding the kid-friendly games), but they would still have an underpowered console next-gen to counter the ballooning of development costs. Same question: would YOU be ok with it? So is it a...

Discussion Sony FY2024 Q2 Earnings Announcement | OT

It really is that simple: Would YOU be ok with it, yes or no? Not really. PlayStation is the company behind things like EyeToy, Eye of Judgment, SingStar, Invizimals, Buzz, PlayLink games, Wonderbook etc. Games like ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, Puppeteer, Escape...
