Lot's of PC games do this, very long shader compilation at startup and then it doesn't bother you no more, HZD PC does this, Warzone does this. But for some reason UE4 games don't, never understood as to why.
It's because PS5 has one fixed GPU, on PC you have thousands of different configurations and drivers, so the game has to compile the shaders for your setup. On PS5 they are already baked in the installation.
So now that you got your hands on it...how's that for a walking talking cinematic simulator? Has no gameplay right?
All jokes aside, glad you enjoyed it, you have a whole world in front of you now.
That said, I miss the times of PC gaming with 3Dfx, Carmageddon, Unreal, Quake 2, Ultimate Race Pro.
I miss buying a new GPU just to experience the leaked Doom 3 Alpha, it was out of this world. I miss Crysis and the huge leap it was for graphics rendering.
Those golden days are gone...
That is exactly what I mean, I would never say PC is not THE BEST platform to play any game.
I just think it's value it's not what it was in those days, games that pushed the medium forward, couldn't be played anywhere else, sold new hardware etc.
Nah, I'm true PC master race, don't be fooled. The difference is, I use my PC for work, not playing games.
Of course this all comes down to personal opinion, when I finish my work I like to hop on the couch and play with my PS5 and XSX on my OLED with my Dolby Atmos setup. And then of course...
I think what he is trying to say is that for many many years PC gaming was the source for the cutting edge game experiences, consoles were lucky if they got inferior ports from the PC platform. Nowadays the roles are reversed, the best experiences come from the consoles and the PC is the source...
It actually is, you can only use Gamepass on Windows, matter of fact, you can only game on Windows so they have the monopoly there.
Anyway, that's not how businesses work, costumer aquisition is real and expensive.
They have interest in it's userbase. It's worth a lot more than streaming. It's actually something I see them doing in a not so distant future, they need that userbase to push Gamepass.
