Hilariously there will come a time when MS says, look at all these games we’re giving you from Activision and Bathesda! Only the astute will fully acknowledge they would have gotten these games anyway.

The astute never even celebrated that, they have always celebrated the games others would have gotten but were taken away. Not nearly as astute as petty.
Yep with Stalker that is a short timed exclusive that's about the best that they can do.
At the end of the day, it's been a pretty barren year for Xbox.
However, things will surely improve over time.
I think they will get a lot of traction beyond 2023 with multiple games being released, the only thing I hope they do is focus on quality control.
It would really be nice to see games like avowed fable perhaps hitting 9/10 reviews.
That's hilarious because Halo Infinite still died like a few weeks after that and it was supposed to be their main GaaS for the next 10 years according to MS themselves.
MS has so much money they think they can succeed just by being there and buying people left and right. They think rules don't apply to them. But if you don't work, if you don't manage your studios properly, nothing great ever happens. The best talents don't stay in this kind of badly managed places either so you're bleeding the few talents you have.
The irony is all they had to do from day one of Xbox was copying Sony : patiently building great studios, patiently developing great exclusives. Building, not buying. But they thought they knew better and here they are 20 years later, still last place and still trying to take shortcuts that lead nowhere.

Game Media/journalists where desperate for ms to have a win. Mediocre trash like infinite got voted up becaus of that.
They spend good amounts of money in bribes and astroturfing. Had they used that money on game development instead, their fans might have had a good exclusive to play in 2022.

Yes, 2021 was great. 2020 was still good, 2019 was ok etc..
They did that in 2013 across gaf and reddit. Gaf mods caught on and started dropping ban hammers on the shills. I think it was a company ms hired or something like that.

Deathloop been out a year on PS & PC already played it and didn't like it much.
Trust me when i tell you this, as a Xbox main platform guy ever since 2001 when Xbox 1st started. I can can say that 2022 is the worst year in term of Xbox 1st party game release ever .
I know my Xbox gaming stuff inside and out.
I know it is already out for a year but with the Starfield delay they will marketing Deathloop for holidays.
There is nothing unless a surprise happens that it almost impossible… we are near September already and I think there is not time to a surprise anymore.
I guess MS will bundle Deathloop with Series S for Black Friday.
Anyway I did like Deathloop… it was one of last year best releases and my second choice for GOTY.
Word, with all its issues, missing features and mediocrity. Then thy held onto Sea of Thieves like it was some AAA GOTY blockbuster smh. Sad state for Microsoft. I really do wish things were better.

Agree here. I doubt that the Starfield showcase was on an Xbox. And if that was a high-end PC stuttering like that, then they will downscale the crap out of Starfield. BethSoft really need to switch engines to something more performing. I'm genuinely wanting Starfield but it definitely needs more time to cook.
Not related to MS but Bethesda strengths rely on world building and story telling... not in game code/development.
All their games are shit in that aspect since ever.
Sub-part quality with tons of bugs in all platforms is what I always expect from Bethesda.
In that point at least PC modders fix most of the things but it takes a lot of time and it is a nightmare who plays at day one.
The xbone launched with Forza 5 Ryze Son of Rome (not amazing, but something) and that CoD mech game that everyone thinks its themed controllers are for star-wars came out a little later. It wasn't great and the ps4 hype train just rolled all over the launch lineup, but they had something to offer.
I was kind of hoping MS was going to force them to switch to a different engine or at least help them with theirs.... Maybe for their next game? Or later in the development of this one.
