Bungie wants to do the Nintendo thing with the visual direction and appeal of their games. Splatoon and Fortnite have both shown that kid friendly shooters can make bank.

No real interest in a moba-like from me but I will still try it. Same goes for Marathon. Destiny will be ongoing forever so don’t care how they branch out from remaking the same game over for 30 years.

Seems that we finally start to see what Matter is. Btw, what the hell "frog-type games" means? Do anyone knows any example?

The new artwork and description matches very well with these two older images:

Also matches with these other ones, even if they had a somewhat different artstyle and color palette, probably are much older. Or well, maybe just made by other concept artist:

Bungie didn't say that it's a MOBA, the thread title is wrong. Seems that the OP poster (Vertigo), like you, didn't go to read the article and the original Bungie source.

What Bungie said in the original source is:

"One of our favorite incubation projects that has been in development for a few years is a team-based action game inspired by several genres in a brand-new science-fantasy universe. It draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games, wrapping them all up in a lighthearted, comedic world.

The team is designing for depth, mastery, and Bungie's signature action feel, as well as a friendly, inclusive community. "

Their factual results say they opposite: they are more successful than they ever have been in any objective metric to analyze it objectively: sales, revenue, engagement, retention, active players, user spent, etc.

Bungie posted the artwork and described the game on their official LinkedIn page on purpose, it isn't a leak.

Seems that these "sources" said that after watching the same Bungie LinkedIn post and previous artwork we also saw.

No, there was a Bungie company meeting last night. Thegamepost article references having spoke to some folks. Expect leaks

And this means what? You still think Matter isn’t marathon? Cuz it %100 is. That was its codename. GummyBears didn’t just appear out of thin air but it’s likely going passed preproduction phase now. All those generic fantasy images are not actual games. Bungie would absolutely never show anything so early… friggin ever

Many titles are in incubation as Bungie allows its workforce up to 20% of their time on independent passion projects; some make it into incubation and some never get out of it. There’s a Destiny Street Fighter clone in existence at Bungie.

Oh and it’s definitely a MOBA. What spins Bungie puts on the genre will surely be their own. Thegamepost article clearly mentions talking to devs about it.

This makes 4 projects in total including Destiny, Destiny Mobile, Marathon and now “GunmyBears.”

"that has been in development for a few years" means that has been in development for a few years at Bungie, so the Bungie employees know it since a few years ago.

I'm not 100% sure, but the color palette of the logo matches better with the newer game more than with Marathon.

Also, Bungie trademarked Matter:
https://gamerant.com/bungie-matter-trademark/

And trademarks are for commercial products or services, not for internal codenames.

They call it "incubation" because sounds more cool. But in game development it's called internal pitches and prototypes. In many gamedev companies the workers pitch their personal ideas to make one of the next games of the studio, or postlaunch features/content to be added to an active GaaS.

Most get axed when are only a powerpoint, some of them later when they are a prototype, and the ones who pass from here often become vertical slice and if not killed there they enter production. And yes, some also get axed during production.

But a team based action game+platformer+MOBA+fighting game+fighting game+life sim+whatever frog-type game means that has been under development during a few years sounds as a meaty commercial project under production, not a simple prototype.

When Bungie said while ago that by 2025 in addition to Destiny they were planning to release at least one new IP they meant that they had at least a 2 projects that could be released around that timeframe. One is Marathon, and pretty likely other one is the trademarked Matter. Bungie trademarket both Marathon and Bungie Aerospace back in 2010.

Oh and it’s definitely a MOBA. What spins Bungie puts on the genre will surely be their own. Thegamepost article clearly mentions talking to devs about it.

The claims from supposed unknown users to a noname videogames website have zero credibility. Specially when they conflict with an official post of the company, which is this case. The company says it's influenced by multiple genres, being MOBA only one of five they mention as examples.

Most likely any other older artwork from Bungie’s hiring pages are actually not games in active development. Expecting everything under wraps unless a legit leak happens or the reveals. They won’t show you beforehand. You can mostly consider that stuff general placeholder art.

There’s lots of rumors and assumptions based on job hirings of potential projects. I’ve seen people estimate up to 5 prior to this new codename drop.

But yes, a more kid friendly game has been rumored for years now. They want an alternative to the darker themes of destiny and have mentioned such. I’d assume most of their upcoming projects are general audience type games with bright visuals etc.

But can this game be matter? It can. There’s plenty of reason to assume that Marathon actually spun off from Destiny 3 concepts with Activision (team history and destiny history kinda leads to that assumption).

You really might want to rephrase that.
You're just jealous because kids are playing frog-type games instead of boil the fish.

seriously there's nothing wrong with what Ezekiel said. Who's playing Fortnite and Roblox? They make billions

I used to like moba game on playstation

Whats its called ? Paragon?

Rather have them continue that game instead of bungie making a new moba game..let bungie focus on fps game like destiny...
