Starfield's dropped to 20 times less. Baldur's dropped to 10 times less.

So no, not similar, starfield had twice worse fall.

maybe starfield is doing just *fine* as a new AAA game, but not the world-turning mega Xbox exclusive of the generation. It's not that easy to break into the top 50 of Steam games.

Nah you are right, but Starfield has a fraction of the playbase it would have if it was actually a good game.

Where is he wrong? He's saying something is very bad for BGS and he's right. They put a massive amount of time and effort into the game, it ended up feeling dated, critics didn't like it and audience numbers weren't there like they were for Oblivion through FO4. Thats bad and they need to course correct for TES6.

Just a nitpick, it should say "fewer players", not less.

Then again, if it is the same number of players, but they weigh less as a collective, "less players" would be accurate.

I bought the game on release. However it’s just too big and overwhelming for me. I played maybe 2 hours. I just wasn’t feeling it with ships, planets, inventory babysitting, the maps and fast travel, endless dialogue, minimal ammo, no vehicles. I just don’t have time for all that.

They were talking about this on the Starfield Reddit the other week after an article came out saying it was doing good by keeping 30k players. And the cope was, I'm sure you can guess, that "it's doing really well on Game Pass you just can't tell." It's about 2 weeks away from reaching Halo Infinite numbers.

The biggest problem is that people equate putting time and effort with quality, especially those who claimed Starfield was some sort of gaming event without even playing it, and ignoring BGS track record.

Baldur's Gate has retained a greater percentage of its players while being out almost 3x as long (over 3 months compared to a little over a month)
