Alan Wake 2 seemingly won't have a physical release

Why is Alan Wake 2 a digital-only release?

There are many reasons for this. For one, a large number of have shifted to digital only. You can buy a Sony PlayStation 5 without a disc drive and Microsoft’s Xbox Series S is a digital only console. It is not uncommon to release modern games as digital-only.

Secondly, not releasing a disc helps keep the price of the game at $59.99 / €59.99 and the PC version at $49.99 / €49.99.

Finally, we did not want to ship a disc product and have it require a download for the game — we do not think this would make for a great experience either.

Is there a disc-based version of Alan Wake 2 in the works?

There are currently no plans to release Alan Wake 2 on disc.

If Capcom can keep Resident Evil 4 remake at $60 with a physical release, Remedy can with fucking Alan Wake II. Give me a fucking break.

I don't get why they think that launching a physical version would mean it has to cost 70€/$? There are plenty of games launching for the old 60€/$ price and even indies manage to put out physical releases for the same price as digital. Sounds like a weak excuse to me.

Never ceases to amaze how studios/pubs kill hype for their games with boneheaded moves like this... everytime.

Don't blame Xbox. It's Epic Publishing... that's the main suspect! I would even go as far as to say 100% the main culprit.

This is the most bullshit excuse ever to not have a physical copy. Like what?

Christ, apparently one of the reasons is because they didn't want to ship a game that requires a download to play.

This game is going to be over 100GB in size for some fucking reason, isn't it?

So why not sell only the physical version for 70$/80€ if that's the issue?
Bullshit excuse.

Also, just make use of compression or have a second disc if it's necessary.

Guess they don't want my money.

What a complete joke, I hope that is flops hard and I'll not be buying it.

The excuses make me sick, this reeks of Epic.

The devs on Twitter are fighting to the death in defending it as a good thing. It's bad enough Nintendo allows it for their games where you can sometimes buy a physical copy and it ends up being a download copy. I remember they did that with Overwatch and that shit pissed me off so much.
