[Bloomberg] ‘Grand Theft Auto’ Maker Rockstar Games Asks Workers to Return to Office Five Days a Week

Rockstar Games, a division of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., will ask employees to return to the office five days a week beginning in April as the video-game maker enters the final stages of development on its next game, the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI.

In an email to staff on Wednesday reviewed by Bloomberg, Rockstar Head of Publishing Jenn Kolbe said the decision was made for productivity and security reasons. The company has faced several security breaches including a massive dump of early footage from the new Grand Theft Auto and an early trailer that leaked in December.​

Kolbe wrote that the company also found "tangible benefits" from in-person work. "Making these changes now puts us in the best position to deliver the next Grand Theft Auto at the level of quality and polish we know it requires, along with a publishing roadmap that matches the scale and ambition of the game," she wrote.

Return-to-office mandates have been a hot topic across various industries since the pandemic forced myriad employees to work from home. More recently, many employers have asked staff to return to the office for two or three days a week. A study last month found that remote work did not have an impact on productivity.​

Seems like is to avoid leaking the game before release.
They want to do all internally private at the company network (no internet access) so that way no hacker can try to steal anything.

With remote you have to open door to employees works and that way hackers can use that door.

For me spring come close, from mid-March to holiday week there is a lot of work offers and contracts so probably I gonna have to stay woke like @Satoru. 20 hours of sleep per week is not that bad.

Why are Americans complain again. Their life seem pretty easy. They are free to drive the truck around, if they are depressed they could go to shooting range or drive their ATV around those beautiful mountain range and forests.

I start at 8:30am and left 5:30pm.
But my work is more about delivery dates than time worked… there is no control of how much you worked but you have deadlines to delivery your task.

For example if you have delivery a task in 3 days but you do all the work today the you basically get free time in the next two days.

I’m working and scheduling my jobs/tasks in a way that I can do everything in 4 days so I have the Friday free to do things with my children’s

But if I sleep my time I wake up all smiles and zen

Japan work culture sucks and has the lowest efficiency per time worked due to how ridiculous it is. I would rather finish my duties and go home+play games than have to stick around for appearances even though shit sucks and there's no reason to
