And yes people tend to buy the same stuff over and over and never try someting else. Hell even I was guilty until I went back to PC and discovered a treasure chest of possibilities. I'm now playing games of all gens on pc (In VM, DosBox what have you) and trying new games. Indie or just genres I never touched.
But a lot of people like the comfort of knowing what's to come. There are games for any time of gamer. Will I be waiting for Far cry 12? Fuck no!
But I bet other people will be.

- Best chat systems
- Biggest library of games
- Activity feed where you can show your friends your screenshots, what you have bought, recently earned achievements
- Family sharing
- Use whatever controller you want
- Cheats (trainers, cheat engine)

Yeah this is what made me jump platform. I switched from pc to console around 2009 and just got back into PC this year.
So far I've experienced:
- A true VR experience with Half Life Alyx and Auto Mobilista 2 with wheel
- Playing a modded Max Payne 3 with custom textures, John Wick mod, weapons mod, scripthook trainer etc
- Started using a mic again using Discord
- Capturing gameplay clips and editing them
- Playing childhood games again like Commander Keen, (Brutal) Doom, Alley Cat, the library is endless
- Building custom shaders using ReShade
- You choose your horsepower
- Full Ray and path tracing/ HDR/ DLSS
Etc, etc.
It is A LOT more expensive then consoles but then again much more scalable to find the balance between wallet and performance.
But consoles also have a certain charm to them. If I go on vacation, I wont be packing my rig..... And you know you're good to go for a few years.
With pc's your stuff is almost absolete before you finish installing Windows with all it's updates.

Discord works on consoles now btw
PS5 has share screen features so you don't need to fiddle with streamlabs or OBS to share gameplay with friends
Cheats is not a positive, get good
One advantage you didn't bring up on PCs is ultra widescreen aspect ratio and multi monitor
Also you can get adblockers for youtube on pc
Price is the biggest thing going agaisnt PC Gaming. If you want the best machine possible you will probably be spending around 6-8 thousand dollars on a machine
Yeah I consider my rig being a bargain. Got a rig with an Asus Maximus board, 32GB or Corsair Dominator, an i9 10900k and a 2070 Super for 750 euros.
Damn thing has water cooling and everything.
Ended up selling the 2070, which was a founders edition for 250 and bought a new 4070 Super. 4070 was 650 I think, so a grand total of 1150.
