Verge article lmfao. It was a video bruh and they’re regurgitating info.
Bungie has been very clear with their language that they’re continuing Destiny 2. Directly from Luke Smith’s mouth. And oh look, they just dated the next expansion. I know what Bungie has specifically said.
They didn't date any next expansion because they have not announced any next expansion. You are mading this up.
Bungie instead said they'll continue supporting Destiny 2, but switching to this new 3 episodes per year format for 2024 and beyond. And that their 2025 content is codenamed Frontier. That's all.
I posted the exact quotes and direct source.
You should be the one checking receipts on your own bullshit but you continue to double down own your own brand of fake news.
wtf are you talking about? I'm posted literal quotes and original sources, even directly from Bungie. If you think these are fake news then you better seek a therapist.
And stop attacking me with that stupid childish stuff and start behaving like a decent person.
Literally everything Yurinka has ever mentioned about D3 has been conjecture pulled directly from his ass.
D3 could happen … like in another decade lol
Obviously when I say they may be working also on Destiny 3 is just an speculation because they never announced it. But I know Bungie basically doubled their manpower since they announced the acquisition and since they planned to make Destiny movie/tv show adaptations I assume it's to work in -in addition to other projects- Destiny 3 and not Knack 3.
Bungie needs the game every year, every month and every day for consistent revenue. There’s no reason to believe Marathon could replicate that. Destiny is their cash cow. A D3 from scratch sorta needs Marathon and Gummy Bears to make bank otherwise they’re never leaving D2.
Bungie has around 1500+ employees, meaning they have enough people to have at least half a dozen AAA games under production. They won't wait until D2 is over to start developing D3. Pretty likely have been working on it at least since the moment Sony signed them and started to work, because D2 is old for being a GaaS and some day will end, and Sony will want them to continue with more Destiny games just after it, in addition to other IPs (as would be Marathon or Matter), to get the money they paid for the acquisition back.
And yes, Halo and Destiny -plus the many millions of views of its teaser- are reasons to believe Marathon can replicate the Destiny 2 success.
More than likely, considering they just made Shadowkeep and Beyond Light campaigns f2p just like vanilla and forsaken were f2p before they were DELETED… Destiny will most likely drop last gen with Frontiers as plans are to have shared engine development alongside Marathon for the Destiny engine moving forward.
Frontiers is expected to move the game out of the Sol system. It is being telegraphed narratively with the return of the dreadnauhgt (watch the byf video)
If the new engine to be used in Marathon is too different pretty likely would make more sense to start using it in Destiny 3 than migrating all the huge amount of Destiny 2 stuff they have to the new engine, which would require a lot of work and money. When a GaaS is in its sunseting stage devs decrease the investment on it, they don't increase it. And well, having a bigger quality jump would make players see with better eyes the new sequel. Also, in this stage to leave behind players not sure if it would be a good idea unless they're a tiny portion of the userbase. The more users and revenue they generate, the better.
Regarding Frontiers I asuume that yes, the codename could refer to the frontiers of our solar system. And maybe also to the frontier between Destiny 2 and other Destiny products as could be Destiny 3, Destiny 1, a potential Destiny mobile game or the movie/animation or regarding platforms, even if only are planting seeds to continue them in other products in terms of lore. Who knows if they could even refer to platforms, maybe even (doubt it) have planned Switch 2 and mobile versions of D2.
Assuming that as was rumored/"leaked" they started to work on Destiny 3 back in February 2022, a late 2027/early 2028 release on time for PS6 launch would be possible, with maybe having the last D2 season in 2026 or 2027.
Details about the original Activision 10 year plan now learned was 5 boxed (numbered) releases, 2 dlc and one expansion per boxed release. Fairly certain at this point that Marathon actually started as Activision’s D3 considering the leads that started it.
Their contract with Activision was leaked, revealing the detailes of original 10 years plan that included 3 games and (can't remember well, would need to search it) two big expansions (maybe boxed).
As I remember the original 10 years plan changed (separated from AB, went F2P, decided to expand it beyond the 10 years, etc.), and at least part of the stuff they planned for D3 was included in D2 expansions. But again, I don't remember the details.
