Bungie's Marathon video update with new info released

They just posted this tweet:


And their previous one was this one from May from last year (a year and a half ago), saying they were going to be quiet until having gameplay to show:


So it would mean that we'll get a gameplay video pretty soon.

Sounds good:

• Extraction shooter: you keep the loot if you successfully extract alive after the run, if not you loose it
• It's PvPvE with quests, not limited to PvP
• Shown two characters/character class types, he mentioned as "templates", codenamed Thief and Stealth, which seems will have specific skills or something tailored to these different play types
• From there characters, weapons gear and more customizable and upgradeable stuff, with several stats and skills to adapt the character to your stats, doesn't sound like a hero shooter at all
• Based on the Marathon IP but it's a fresh start, will have a survival, dangerous and harsh atmosphere
• A lot of loot of different types. Some to upgrade and customize your character. Some will be consumables like grenades or mines, or to recover health
• They have been playtesting and aggresively reworking stuff in the last couple of years, as a result some things are in a more completed stage but other ones have been or are being reworked, so still can't show the game publicly
• Next year they'll make bigger playtests, hinting potential alpha or beta demos for us to play next year. Didn't mention anything about the release date, but 2025 doesn't sound set in stone anymore and I'd say 2026 sounds pretty possible and likely
• Wishlists are open on PSN, Steam and Xbox. They'll update more there in the future
• They'll share more about the game "in sort of the midst of 2025"

I really feel like this update was made because Bungie's current predicament as well as some of the rumours when it comes to the project's current state. I would say that the move is probably not the right one considering "prove" to the masses that the game is going to hit at all.

If it flops it will just give Sony more reasons to sell Bungie off. Bungie was one of the worst acquisitions Sony had ever made. With that amount they could have gotten Sega.

Yeah but why do you think it will flop?
And the deal is done, Sony isnt gonna sell it off or benefit from if they have to. Or if its fails they wont benefit and neither will any of the fans.
Why not hope it succeeds and Sony can move on. They have a track record of making decent games so it shouldnt be too hard to succeed. And with Sony taking over the incompetent management, it has a better chance.

I think it was more MS was gonna buy them, and Sony kinda had to as they were in the market for a FPS/MP studio. Lose another studio to Xbox after Bethesda, Ninja Theory, Obsidian etc.

As much as I love Sony to buy Sega, it would cost way more than 3billion to them I think and they didnt want to be bought. They should still try. If I was Sony, Id still buy Sega, Warner and Fromsoft. Both for games and movie wise. Instead of the the rumoured Paramount.

I would of got Remedy when they were on sale as they make similar games to what PS fans like. But Sony still needs a FPS studio, one as proven as Bungie doesnt come often.
They overpaid, but its not our money lol and dont think Sony would of gone spending if they didnt buy Bungie. They are cheap asses
