We know Microsoft will Def make it exclusive. Aint no one trying to here the green die hard, that say otherwise. No one is fooled. I'm glad more inquiry is being done although to me COD isn't tht serious as I've been lately skipping installments.

Am i the only one here who wants the deal to go through? I wanna see CoD shrink and a return to Killzone and Resistance. Possibly a Medal Of Honor ressurection ? I feel like i've seen like 70 CoD games, there is nothing new...

I don’t care if it does or doesn’t. Activision looks like it’s going to shit real fast. And Microsoft’s vulture tactics will put at end to it. I see this as a funeral regardless

Outside of Warzone, retail CoD may push big launch numbers but you can see those games not holding players. Times are changing.

Sony does not need CoD. Everything can be replaced. There will always be something new. Saying otherwise is nonsense.

However…

I do think it’s Sony’s job to be a massive pain in the ass about this as well and essentially cockblock the deal at every turn. Business is war. I don’t expect them not to play dirty… I mean MS buying giant pubs like Bethesda and Activision because their own studios are failures and creatively bankrupt… doesn’t get any dirtier.

Something I thought of Was that notice how vocal Microsoft is and how quiet Sony is. Don’t you think if Sony felt like regulators weren’t listening to their concerns or not taking this seriously they would be the ones speaking out in public every day? Surely the bridge is burnt with Microsoft now, don’t you think they’d be going a little more scorched earth if things weren’t looking good for them? Like they could say something like “Microsoft’s poor business decisions is the reason Xbox has less market share” or “Microsoft has a history of monopolies.” There’s a lot of things Sony could be saying but aren’t meanwhile Microsoft is making websites dedicated to why this deal is good and telling regulators they don’t know how to do their job.

It's kind of crazy to see how ABK's revenue & profits almost wholly rely on COD & Candy Crush. WoW has been in decline for years; Overwatch 2 seems to be doing pretty well with stream numbers from what I've noticed but there's no public tracker for player numbers (they did hit 25 million players in 10 days seemingly).

It's not like they don't have some dormant IP that could do well with a modern update, like Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Guitar Hero/Rock Band/DJ Hero series etc. But you need some creative visionaries at the top and that's something ABK don't have outside of how to milk out COD year after year.

Not sure what people accusing them of lying are expecting. They said several years, this lines up with it. There also would obviously be further deals down the line, it’s not like it just ends in 2027 permanently.

For all we know the “inadequate” part of the offer could have been MS wanting Sony to let them release the games onto GamePass or something. The way the MS response was worded, MS could close on ABK tomorrow and still be unable to release some of the last couple CoD games onto GamePass, never mind the newest one.

Something else I realized; if the PS4 & PS5 numbers are right, that would put PS5 at ~ 30 million but...I dunno how accurate that could even be. The last PS5 numbers we got were from Ampere ~ 2 months ago @ ~ 22 million IIRC. So how would they have sold 8 million units in two months, and has that ever happened with any other PS console outside of the holiday season?

The PS4 + PS5 estimate might be too high if it's sold-though; if it's sold-in though that might be accurate. Considering how fast PS5s sell out though I can't imagine some 5 million just sitting in distribution chains and warehouses (they could be holding off on them until GOW Ragnarok drops, though).
The PS estimates by MS are most likely just wrong -- or include irrelevant stuff like PS3s and Vita.

These numbers are just to make PlayStation look like the market leader and Xbox a poor victim.

Aww boo the poor Microsoft which bought the small Indie ABK for $70B… Let’s all gather together and fund help for poor Microsoft. 🥸

I want to see the deal fail so that Sony themselves don't think about acquiring publishers (albeit smaller ones, Sony can't spend that kind of money). In theory, I'm confident MS would fuck it up somehow, like they usually do, but in practice, it's too big of a move that will shift the console market towards a company that has failed to provide even a GOTY in the past decade.
Oh, MS will indeed fuck it up somehow. Remember Nokia?

Oh, aaaagreeeed 100%.
Couldn't care less for CoD, I personally want other FPSs to surface after this.

Not sure if they can prevent a game from releasing on their platform, that would be anti-competitive.

I think they can, or else MS would have release GamePass for PS devices already...

Sadly, Medal of Honor is likely DEAD dead. I don't see EA reviving the IP, especially given they own Battlefield. No sense in competing with yourself.
Unless MoH saw a drastic change in what sort of shooter it is vs Battlefield, I don't see a revival in the cards. Which is sad, i actually liked where the campaign storyline was headed in the last series.

Also can't really see a return to either Killzone or Resistance. Guerrilla and Insomniac both seem disinterested in a return right now (especially Insomniac with Resistance) and having other studios just take over those IP may not go over well. If anything, I see them putting more focus into Destiny/Bungie and whatever Deviation is making if it's a hit.

Game Pass isn't a game though, it's a service.

I don't know. I think the legal term is software for both. *shrug*

Thanks Mr. Moodkiller sir. I meant that it wouldn't be the weirdest piece of news if Sony announced that they are buying MoH franchise. Not that i'll lose sleep over it, but Destiny isn't exactly an FPS to compete with CoD.

Sorry but, I still can't believe the nerve of MS / Phil Spencer.

They come across to me as if they look down on Sony because of the market cap and spending difference.

Yet shown very little evidence throughout his time at Xbox that he knows what he's doing or know how to manage studios, just look at the damage done to their flagship game Halo.

Remove the vast sums of MS Corp money buying big publishers what has he actually achieved? And yet here he is, bertie big bollocks, handing a company that actually knows what they're doing and worked for their place in the industry - some shitty contract. With the expectation due to their size they have enough leverage on Sony to accept the offer.

Can only imagine how much Jim laughed when the contract came through.

lmao.
The fact that acti is trying to sell to PS biggest competitor and not put in the clause that the game stays on PS for PS users goes to show how effed up acti and MS is and what ms underlining intent really is.
I hope regulators chop they ass up into tiny pieces.
