I doubt any dev wants to sell themselves to Tencent right now.
You over estimate how self interested ppl can be. Tencent has an almost 25% stake. Time has proven if the bag is big enough ppl will take it. Why would the higher ups care what happens to the studio after they cash out. If game’s development is getting rocky even more smaller publishers/studios will cash out. Better to take the money and run than go down with the ship.

Won't happen for different reasons:
  • Sony said they weren't going to have acquisitions for the short term, but instead were going to resume them in the mid to long term
  • It doesn't have a great sales potential, I don't see it selling over 5M, and even less 10M
  • On a related note, I'd say an acquisition wouldn't add enough strategical value because Sony already has many 1st and 3rd party games of this genre, and makes more sense instead as isolated 2nd party partnership catalog filler. Very likely Sony will want to grow instead in areas where they want/need to grow (GaaS, online MP, PC, mobile, eSports, some top genre with huge sales in console where Sony has no 1st party presence or depends on a couple companies who could be acquired by MS)
  • Shift Up likes to put beautiful and sexy women on their games and some people in the western Sony and gaming press hate beautiful women and think they must be censored from games, same as white heterosexual male main characters, because of woke religious reasons. Woke Sony wouldn't allow an acquisition, and the woke gaming press will destroy Stellar Blade with their reviews because it has a beautiful sexy woman as main character.
