Dead Island 2 Surpasses 10 Million Players

Dead Island 2 continues to attract players in numbers. Finally releasing last year after a protracted development cycle, the zombie-slaying action RPG turned out to be a better game than many had hoped, and strong word of mouth has continued to attract players in droves.


In fact, publisher Deep Silver has announced with a press release that Dead Island 2 has now surpassed 10 million players across all platforms, a milestone that it crossed earlier this week, the day that Dead Island 2: Ultimate Edition launched.

Hahaha. Nah. The game is really good and those who liked the original or Dying Light 1/2 will most likely enjoy Dead Island 2. I still need to play the two expansions but the base game was a great 8.5/10 for me. Well worth the full digital ultimate edition price.

In its fourth quarter and full-year fiscal report for 2024, the Embracer Group announced that Dead Island 2 has sold over three million units

That's as of March 2024.
The game came out on Steam in April 2024(it was an EGS timed exclusive) and estimates says about 300-350k.

So Dead Island 2 is currently somewhere between 3.5M and 4M.

And worst of all, trophies tied to it in the same shitty way like Dying Light, where you have to complete multiple missions in a full group.

All that we know is that Dambuster(UK Studio) took over the project in 2019 and released the game in 2023.

The gore system is freaking great. You can see the muscle tissue and bones once you cut/burn through the actual skin.
