You used to be a good poster man, the posters here have really dumbed you down to their level.

The “bolted on” part is perception due to the updates being free. Yet they are full fledged AAA games with full VR effort. I think this is the future, it’s tough to make AAA only for VR install base, however certain genres translate to the medium and hopefully more and more start catering for both playstyles. These are bigger and better games than a small indie on the whole.

Will I buy a driving game in the future without a VR option….probably not, haven’t been able to play flat driving since DriveclubVR completed transformed the experience for me.

Half Life Alyx is an fps and could be tailored to 2d also. RE8 has dual hand tracking and physical interaction in the environment - not possible without VR either without basically traditional gun stuck to your balls.

All driving games with a cockpit are ready made for vr, no need for bespoke implementation- just specific Qol adjustments are needed with sufficient effort.

Each implementation simply needs to respect its platform and asynchronous development can take place.

Without the above, AAA on VR would be very limited outside of a handful of titles.


In summary, full GT7 in VR is simply as good as it gets, no need for a seperate title because it doesn’t require a neutered or simplified game. Indeed it elevates it beyond its humble launch.

And RE8 with those gfx and gameplay? What truly compares today.

This doesn't read like the game was designed or authored around VR from the get go, it happened naturally because of the lofty resolution/FPS target they set for the game in the first place.

“At the end of developing GT Sport, we started on GT7 and our intent was that we would make the entire game playable in PSVR 2,” said Yamauchi-san. “GT7 natively supports 4K/60, but when you set targets like that you naturally also end up supporting things like VR as well.”

Like you said most/all of these cases can/will be tailored to a standard 2D experience and that's what most people will prefer whether its due to the entry requirements or any other reason. This is what I mean when I say I don't see it gaining mass market appeal outside of the enthusiasts.

GT7 was developed from the beginning for PSVR. It's not bolted on.

English is not my first language, but I believe the quote states that GT7 was made so that it could be entirely played in VR. Whatever motivations led to that mean shit because your own quote states it wasn't bolted on, it was developed with that in mind.

The game can only be played on PSVR2… that is what killer app is… high quality app released to move hardware.

And you keep going in circles… I said if PSVR2 reach mass market it will be a win for VR in general because no other device ever did that.

Said that I expect it to cross 10 million… anything over that will be a plus but mass market is not something easy archivable and I don’t believe Sony expect that too.
