Oliver starts talking at ~5m20s. He also hints at Sampler Feedback Streaming not being used because it's too costly to implement, and some other features not being implemented by engines because Sony doesn't support them.

It's interesting how 4 years ago "VRS Tier 2" was hailed as a tech that would claim ridiculous performance gains, just to get sidelined to software solutions that ran on the GPU's shader units with better results.

It's not PS5's fault Microsoft isn't using the full suite of RDNA2 features, if Microsoft's 1st party devs aren't using the features then that's on them.

Then why did DF defend the shit out of XBOX when this gen started? It's obvious from Multiplatform titles running just as well if not better on PS5 that sony was able to do more with less. And their design is better in efficiency, API, tool set. Almost like they know defending a dying platform doesn't benefit them.........

Go watch early videos of launch titles, and they scratch their heads why on some performance is worse on series x. And dont give credit to Sony's I/O design which still has not been replicated on PC.

Notice how long it takes for PS5 centric titles to come to PC? Theres a bunch of code rewrite that has to happen to make it work on PC.

Shut the Hell up with the Misinformation; Colt and Dealer told me the system was the second coming of Christ.

I got quotes saying that even the series s would be outperforming the Ps5.

Perhaps they are using them... it's just that most of them aren't releasing new games. And the ones that are,... well, they're releasing Hellblade 2.


The studio that was doing a marketing push for VRS Tier 2 was The Coalition.. 3 and half years ago. This year they finally showed a CGI trailer for their next Gears, but there's not even a release year in sight. The thing could be out only in 2027 for all we know.



Compare that to the PS5 getting adoption of their IO Complex on release-day titles and brought us zero loading times, a tech that didn't have any counterpart on the PC.

Lol remember certain posters on another forum saying series S is stronger because of the CU numbers or some crap. Also the compression system was better than Kraken….

It was due the CPU clocks but that was not even true at all.
They compared Series S's CPU clock with SMT off with PS5's CPU clock with SMT on.

Reality is that PS5's CPU runs 100Mhz higher than Series S's CPU.
It runs too 100Mhz lower than Series X's CPU.

All the shit Playstation got for not being “full RDNA2” when in reality, Cerny told AMD to get those shit silicon-wasting features out of the PS5 die and told them how to do it right.
