A full two years since Elden Ring's original launch, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion gives us a fresh chance to revisit its world. PS5 and Xbox systems alike were blighted with frame-rate issues back then - while PC had its own share of troubles with traversal hitches and poor ultrawide support. Sadly, much of this appears unfixed by developer FromSoftware today, despite repeated criticism over the years. Tom and Alex look over the details of what's otherwise a beautifully crafted expansion.

Man no increase in performance optimization is disappointing. Lame. Always hilarious to see PS5 beating XSX by up to 10 fps though

The only way Elden Ring will ever get to 60fps locked is if Bluepoint remake it

Embarassing for the PS5, even entry level GPUs can do 60fps on PC.

They had two years to fix it and didnt care and Sony didnt care to presure them either.

Not the best place to play.

It's a CPU issue imo
It's not, I was able to play at 60fps with a 5600g as the CPU two years ago. They just clearly didn't bother optimizing the game and the settings on PS5. Shame.

The fact you could run the PS4 version on PS5 to get better performance on release pretty much proves they could've at least fixed the settings.

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with you about it being a CPU issue or not.

But the 5600G is way stronger than the mobile Zen2 CPU on PS5 that runs at max 3.5Ghz.

How is this embarrassing for PS5 when it comes to FROM's mediocre coding and optimization?

Sony doesn't have the power to put pressure on anyone

How does Sony, the platform holder for PlayStation where the game sells the most has no power to make sure that the biggest game of 2022 is running well on the console 2 years later?

Poor Sony, they can never do anything, thing just happen all around them. Valve gets involved all the time to optimize games for the Steam Deck/Linux.

Sony cannot dictate to 3rd party devs about how they should optimize their games unless they have a partnership in-place where they can have a say in quality control and send in their own support team. Unless it's requested.

Valve has to get involved for obvious reasons. Not even the same scenario

Think logically for once and not run wild with your angst

So you think Sony has no way to reach From Software to attempt to solve such issues, even 2 year later? :ROFLMAO:

It's obvious that just like From Software Sony doesn't give a shit and all the "Best place to Play" is just talk with no substance.

I did not say this but Sony only verify the game once FROM send its over to them. They can't vilify them for having unstable frame rates lol. Nor can they put pressure on a dev to go back and find tune their game once they send over the final build to get ran through verification. 💀

I'm not surprised Sony doesn't communicate with their partners but there is nothing stopping them from doing so.

Sony is responsible for every game sold on PlayStation and one of the most important games of the gen running poorly on the PS5 despite it clearly having the hardware to run it well does reflect poorly on Sony too.

Dunno why PC gets brought up when it still plagued with stutters. And literally Alex is bashing Fromsoft on the PC front in the video lmao.
Stutter was fixable on PC by just playing it on Linux. Windows players deserve all the stutter they get.

2 years ago the game was running smoothly even on entry level GPUs.

Dude what do you want Sony to do here, Act all Yakuza and walk into From offices with tommy guns and metal bats? And you talk about steamdeck as if the games run smooth 30/60 fps on it, Valve at most steps in to help with the proton layer integration and that the games run on the steam deck not guarantee performance.

You can complain about 1st party games not hitting the performance benchmarks but expecting Sony to act like gangsters is ridiculous. Why not complain about fromsoftware being lazy and bombard their socials
