Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake is a game that surely only stands to benefit on PlayStation 5 Pro, owing to its superior upscaling capabilities and enhanced ray tracing. However, this one turns out to be a bit of a mixed bag: the enhancements aren't a clear cut improvement, and using the disc version of the game with no Pro patch, there's an argument to be made that removing PSSR could deliver superior image quality.

Devs are not having good luck with PSSR.
Maybe it is not easy to implement in games already launched.

So playing on Pro without PSSR is the best option... sadly the patch forces PSSR.

Also for more adequate implementation (maybe) you need to change some things in your renderer.

You have to change your render pipeline to get PSSR working the best.
And I think most of developers won't do that for a patched game.
New games are another story... these ones are already made thinking in all options.

The dev didn’t say anything just that is looking into it… so not sure if it was intended or not to ship with the Pro’s code.

The only way to play without the PSSR on Pro now is to have the disc edition and not update it.
