You guys make it sound like the convenience of digital over physical doesn't exists lol
I like physical... love to have the covers in my stands but I'm gone digital for near two generations because convenience is king.
Convenience of digital is a fallacy. Putting a disk in and playing it; true physical, is quicker and easier than downloads, updates and HDD space management
That is like pure bullshit.
Just because you list physical conveniences and it is better for you doesn't mean digital doesn't have conveniences.
Convenience of digital is true.
- You don't need to find disc to play them... it is all there in the console already to play anytime you want.
- You don't need swap discs to play different games... you just hit the icon and play.
- You don't need to take over your discs to your friend's homes to play them... you don't need bags for your games in your travels.
- You can share them with anybody you want and play at the same time... including online coop (it is limited to how many shares? yes but it is still bigger than 1 playing).
- Easy to buy and no wait to receive it.
- It doesn't damage... even if it corrupt you can just redownload.
- They are not physical so you don't need space in your home to store them.
I mean there are more conveniences that I can write but what the point?
Saying digital has no convenience to end user is suck these bullshit lies like the earth is plan.
Have preferences is one thing... each one can prefer and like physical over digital.
But saying there is convenience or pros is buying digital is lying to yourself.
I have the games on my shelf. How hard is it to take the disc and put it into console. The less I have to download from awful psn, the better.
The games are waiting for me in the postbox machine down the road from my work. It is EASIER to get physical than ever in some way.
The only minus is that I cannot go to media markt and expect a game there on day1... which I don't like. It felt great going to the store
Games are 50 hours long. I can swap the fucking disc 2 times per month.
Physical is cheaper, I can do whatever I want with it and play 6 months old build of silent hill 2 remake IF I WANT.
I will grant you that it's faster to just click other game on ps5. And I can donwload from app and have it be ready.
But these Convenience factors do are not convincing enough for me

I can play several games without swap a single time.
Plus my kid can play the games he wants too without swap a single time... and he play like 4-5 games per playing session (Robox, Sackboy Little Addventure, Lego Harry Potter, Lego Start Wars and Astro Bot).
And your forget you can play at the same time a shared digital game... don't need any physical storage space.... can travel with all games with you without move a finger (here you can even says you don't need to choose what games to take with you on travel due baggage space... you can make the choose of any when you will play in the travel).
I mean it is obvious there are conveniences no matter if you like then or not.

As for postbox, I order and it's waiting there on release day or sometimes even day before.
I am going out every day, so grabbing it on my way back from work is no issue,.
He will scratch the discs before one session ends lol
It is still several days vs minutes no matter how you try to say it is your “habits” lol
I get you don’t bother with these conveniences but it is still conveniences for a lot of people and some really game changer conveniences.
I was just at Best Buy on Sunday getting a TV for our bedroom (we didn't have a smart TV). Checked out the game section. Xbox and PS games were nearly nothing. But accessories were a plenty.
I used to go in and there would be two aisles for Xbox and PS games. Now, at least at my Best Buy, they have like a QUARTER section each.
Prices for Console based Hardware are usually pretty persistent, across sellers, both retail and online.
If i need a new controller or something, i might aswell do a quick click&collect, and be done with it.
Games on the other hand are just a Download Button.
