Diversity of PlayStation Exclusives

Just one 1st party AAA JRPG would make me happy.....A new Wild Arms, The Legend of Dragoon, or Dark Cloud would do very well.

I’ve already seen people complain about the price of Helldivers 2 and once it comes out i also expect people to ignore it for some reason or another and act like it never happened so we can get these type of threads again a year from now. That is the next Playstation first party game announced and its exactly what people ask for, its not a huge budget game, its gameplay focused and challenging, and its only 40 dollars.

I can't wait to see how Helldivers 2 does....

The only studio that still even makes AAA JRPG’s is Square Enix and they are already playstation exclusive.

MonolithSoft does too.... the Xenoblade Chronicles games are arguably the best modern JRPGs.

And I wouldn't mind if Sony contracted Square to work on their IPs, its a win win.

I want them to continue with their current focus with some tweaks and acquisitions:

• Narrative action adventure: Uncharted 5 with Nathan Drake as main protagonist, VR spinoff with the daughter as main protagonist, TLOU3 , GoT2, Days Gone 2 after Bend's new IP
• Superhero: After Wolverine, one Scarlet Spider + Spider Gwen/Spider-Woman/Black Cat/Silk shorter Spider-Man 2 short spinoff, a Deadpool short Wolverine spinoff, Spider-Man 3 and X-Men
• Sports & Racing: GT8, MLB, Wipeout (VR friendly if possible), Motorstorm (VR friendly if possitble)
• Platformer: Ratchet, (compatible with non VR and bigger than previous ones) Astro, Loco Roco VR, acquire Ember Lab and make Kena 2, Little Big Planet 3D (now in 3D and unlike Dreams, now again with story campaign)
• Shooters (but adding a solid and long SP narrative campaign to all of them): Marathon (Extraction shooter), Concord (Sony's Halo), Destiny 3, SP focused Killzone 5, Deviation's new IP (Sony's CoD), new Housemarque IP (arcade focus)
• Fighting: ask ARC System Works to make a 2nd party Demon Slayer fighiting game and buy Capcom to secure new Street Fighter and Marvel vs (now PlayStation?) Capcom
• Horror: buy Capcom to secure new Resident Evil and Dino Crisis, and make Until Dawn 2 (or similar new IP) by Ballistic Moon acquire them if needed
• RPG: Horizon 3, Bloodborne 2 (acquiring FromSoft or Kadokawa if needed/possible), acquire SE to secure Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc.
• Hack & Slash: GoW in Egypt/Latin America/India (Kratos as main character, no Atreus spin-off), buy Capcom to secure Devil May Cry, make a new studio headed by Kamiya and ask him a Bayonetta like new IP plus whatever games he wants to make

Arc System Works would make a great fit, but I'd imagine Sony wanting to work something out with Bandai-Namco on that front, maybe where Sony acquires ASW but Bandai-Namco can still hit them up for games like DBZ. Which, if said game were to still be multiplat, just like Bandai-Namco handle publishing on Xbox & Nintendo while Sony publish it on PlayStation and the two split publishing on PC somehow.

Vanillaware & Level 5 would be great studios to partner with and/or acquire, too.

Well, if possible I'd acquire ARC System Works, Bandai Namco, Vanillware in addition to Capcom, From Software and Square Enix.

But I assume none of them will want to sell and Sony doesn't seem that will do any big acquisition until maybe around a fiscal year or two.

Sony or Bungie need to put out one FPS single player focused game with a big budget to shut people up

I remember the game from that second screenshot. Is it still on track to be released. Besides the obvious eyecandy, we need more character action games so I was looking forward to it.

I hope Housemarque does another AAA roguelike. Returnal is best in class. As far as something different? Honestly what their doing behind the scenes right now, multiplayer games. PS3 era had some really fantastic games come from Sony that were heavily slept on (Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MAG, Warhawk, LBP). I honestly feel like a fun multiplayer game can come from them.

I also believe there could be more diversity. I would love to see some of those SP chops develop a award winning FPS SP campaign + strong MP. Resistance, or SOCOM which had (back in the day) a great tactical SP campaign. Or something along the lines of Spec-Ops The line.

Also - I am regularly buying Devolver games that just hit the spot - I can totaly see PS dedicating some of their studios to making more bite sized fun in different genres all year long.
