At the time of publication, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's peak was about 70,414 concurrents, putting it just outside the top 10 most played games on the platform with mostly positive reviews. It sits one spot ahead of Baldur's Gate 3, which continues to enjoy ongoing success thanks to the introduction of mods and other new features. EA previous high watermark was Jedi Survivor, which managed an all-time peak of 67,855.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson predicted success for Dragon Age during Tuesday's earnings call, saying that BioWare had "returned to its strengths," and that it would be benefit from limited competition thanks to Ubisoft's decision to delay Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Do you see it outselling its predecessor? 12 million copies?

Nonsense. This board assured me that PC gamers don't buy games.

I wonder what people will think off it after all is said and done
From what Im gathering:

Combat is the best in the series.
Story and Characters arent.
Graphics isnt awful but some don’t like it. Its not too far off what they use to be. Its nothing to ruin a game anyway.

Story and characters are always gonna be subjective but supposedly lots has been messed up with past characters.
Obviously theres lots of unnecessary cringe woke stuff like: establishing transgender Identity for new dialogue lol

Its an established liked ip, with a genre that can have you having sex with bears and gay minotaurs. I think some players arent turned off by the political stuff. And some are. People cant give an honest opinion on the game because its woke or not. The anti Harry Potter fans couldnt admit if something is good. And neither can the other side

So far anybody I know who's been playing it has only had positive things to say, which has done a lot to reassure me in considering to buy this on a sale.

Ohhhhh...

But DEI agenda are fine now?

That just shows how the bias killed Concord more than anything else.
Concord released from Bungie should move millions from day one.
The same game launched as Overwatch 3 (or whatever other famous name) at $60 should had moved millions at day one.

But somehow Concord (that is one of the best shooter created in the recent years) received a cancel bias agenda from several weirdos that make people not even try it to see what it is up to.

People that never played the game vomited hate here and there.

Instead to try and play new games people now are more like killing new games.

If OverWatch 3 released with Concord gameplay mechanics it would be praised to the heavens. The way how they fused first / 3rd person mechanics and transitions and the traversal elements were truly top notch.

But overall I think it's unfair to compare this game to Concord, this is a huge IP and trust this game is facing the same backlash it just has a customer base to fallback on.

PS tax.
With no PS fans to defend it lol

Game has far better gunplay then most FPS Ive played.
Hermen and Sony heads should be paying for the mistake, not the game programmers

Yep. Same has how Harry Potter couldnt be cancelled. Concord had zero fans and had haters for multiple reasons before anyone even played it. And even saw it lol

I just feel sad for the industry going on that path.
Because new games won’t have chance to show themselves.

Publishers will avoid to invest in new games fearing the backslash.

Having better gunplay than most other games is like saying "This mediocre car has the nicest, most expensive set of tires on it."

When designing a car, there's waaaaay more important things to engineer than tires. Gunplay can't be a top priority as it's not particularly important or impactful.

Yes. Concord was an eye opener for me. How good stable gameplay doesnt matter, and its not even safe from people who dont care about the game.
It was a special storm that I expect a game that wasnt made by Sony wouldnt have been treated the same. Nintendo and MS fans wouldnt allowed that to happen lol.

Doesnt bother me as much as it bothers other, but designers need to put less of there social/political views in games. Either side.
At the same time, some great art and stories are told with peoples views. So freedom is number 1 I guess.

Saying that I cant remember the last time a game wowed me based on story about political views or social justice… MGS5 in the optional tapes? Still, not much.

Its the developers choice but its also there choice to get a hit back and fail. Good games are gonna get ignored and certain games are gonna get overhyped just because of social/political views

For me gunplay is the most important, if the matches are smooth, reactive, fun and varied. Levels were decent enough for good gameplay.
Theres too many shooters with subpar controls. And theres my personal preference to bungie esk FPS.

Content, “progression”, and no campaign were the biggest issues in my opinion. Progression less so for myself

Most reviewers complained about content per cost and that gameplay was decent.

You know they've gone full throttle bootlicking mode when they say it's a good thing that Veilguard (released yesterday) is sitting one spot above Baldur's Gate 3 that is 15 months old.

Saw the Skill Up review and, well, probably one of the best reviews out there for the game.

He didn't like the game.

Thankfully he focused on the core issues, like the combat (says it's very repetitive and brain-dead easy due to boring enemy patterns), writing (child-like, PBS after school special-like dialog, zero conflict or tension between the crew, heavily trope etc.), art style, and gameplay loop/structure (areas feeling very linear and level-based, side quests not integrating into main quest well, romance option choices having no consequence after you pick a mate etc.).

I mean I've seen clips of the "pronouns" stuff to and it's hilariously bad and makes no sense in the type of fantasy world DA wants to sell, but I'm glad reviews like Skill Up's can thoroughly critique the game on its flaws without lowering themselves into culture war talking points. We probably need less of that in gaming, and if you're educated/informed enough you can easily rinse through the problems most of these Western AAA games have without using woke/anti-woke buzzwords sounding like a poor edgy teenager.

More like “this has one of the nicest and exciting handling in the market”.
