Blame EA not Bioware. People acting like Bioware is an independent company making their own decisions and that couldn't be further from the truth. The forced DEI stuff is done on a corporate level and not on a developer level.
If they collectively made a stand and show execs what they stand for instead of sucking it up and just doing it and slaughtering their boy in the process, maybe it would be a different game. Whats EA gonna do... Fire all the people at Bioware and shoot themselves in the foot?

Devs need to grow a spine when it comes to BS corporate decisions. But maybe Concord and this piece of slop together will raise some alarms during the next board meeting.

Maybe its just me. At work I went head to head with the CEO on numerous occasions and im just the IT guy. I saw which direction it went and it wasn't end user friendly or doable at all. I put my foot down, hierachy my ass. I had the power since I'm responsible for servers, workplace etc.

They call me an Anarchist but I don't care. I care for customer satisfaction and comfort. This is how it should and can be in the current gaming industry.
They know their audience.

The devs also have a lot of power but clearly don't realise it or they don't have the balls to put it to use.

They gave EA the perfect reason for a possible shutdown if this game bombs as hard as the signs are saying.
Either they agree with the DEI-rection things are going, or they are talented, spineless wageslaves.

Can't wait for the Steam charts tomorrow. I bet a lot of people at EA and bioware aren't going to sleep well.

Anyone who spends 2 minutes reading the socials from the several story and artistic design devs will conclude this is bullshit.

What we're seeing in Veilguard is exactly what these people want to put in a videogame.
You can blame EA for greenlighting all the stages that led to release, but the authorship is 100% the devs we're seeing here.

The problem is the wrong devs got in charge.

i'm gonna try and not join the hate bandwagon cause so far it looks stunning, and i dont mind the evolution in gameplay whether if thats behind thats each to their own experience. just not in a rush either. the game is getting stomped regardless by general consensus. but i rather give it space. the character design is too modern but the others had a soft look too. but 1, its ea and 2. design choices. a wait and see situation. one game already fed me a modern DA like feast. that's baldurs gate 3. i cant help but be curious tho.

I think that's a fair stance. I'm interested to see where the player reviews end up for this after a week or so (to account for reactionary spikes on day 1).

I hate how US culture wars have influenced video games. Some years ago, if people didn't like something in a video game, they just moved on with their lifes, not screaming about it endlessly on the Internet.
Some years ago it was about quality and appeal being the 2 deciding factors for buying a game.

Now games that checked those marks are being butchered just for the sake of catering to a group of total fruitbats.

DEI started this by invading the gaming industry by force and fear mongering. God damn right this is war.

This is the mentality of someone who has too much spare time. Loser mentality, to be honest.

This review scandal may be real. I’ve seen it myself as far back as 15+ years ago where companies selectively pick favorable reviewers … and that’s normal. HOWEVER… it seems like EA and BioWare pulled every bs tactic they could.

Review codes were sent to those who gave favorable impressions to the preview events. I suggest waiting for fan reception post mortem. Bs radar off the charts.

Still betting on AI assisted game development here.

The thing that bother me about the phrase "a return to form" that all these outlets are using is a return to form of what? These outlets gave Inquisition high scores too the same that they're doing with Veilguard. It not like they shitted on the previous entry and saw the new one being the savior. Lol. The hyperbole gotta dialed down from reviewers.
