One of the best JRPG ever created.
Most of things you see in JRPGs were created here.
Classes.
Day and Night cycles.
Non-linear gameplay.
Open World.
That was in 1988... and even in 2024 companies are having a hard time to put these things together again lol
BTW Final Fantasy only have classes due this game... Square Enix had to copy the classes system for their future FFs.
Story wise it is the first game in the original trilogy... telling the story of the first Loto that is the well ancestor in DQI and DQII stories.

The third game is also the better game, if you sell I & II first you risk of people buying the first collection and never bothering with the 3rd game. If you release it all together, people might also not get to that point.
The release strategy makes sense from a business perspective.
