Square Enix fucked with shipment.
It is sold out in all places.... less than 1 million shipment to DQ game even if remake is bad.

The Switch shipment is especially inexcusable from Square-Enix. It's not like this was a surprise last minute surge in interests like Unicorn Overlord earlier this year. The pre orders numbers were suggesting an easy 800k-1M physical JUST for the Switch. DQ3 on Switch was out of stock across the country the day after.

It's even worse when you consider that we're entering the holiday period, there was no excuse for this conservative shipment. I'm also seeing that Switch re-stock won't happen until early December? This is self-sabotage, lmao.

A Remake of DQ3 one of the the biggest games ever in Japan
I was accounting for a drop in sales due it being a remake.
But DQ games in Japan does over 3 million retail at alunch.

This remake should do way better... at least some 1.5m to 2m if it had enough shipment.

Not sure why Square Enix didn't ship it.

Dragon Quest will forever be a cultural phenomenon in Japan.

Somebody should've told Square-Enix, I don't think they got the memo.

Amazon.co.jp.

PS5 both SKUs got restocked yesterday..
Switch SK1: new shipping on December 9th.
Switch SK2: Usually ships within 1 to 2 months.

lol

Imagine missing the demand by this much in that one country where it matters the most.
It's not like DQ3 was not this insane phenomenon back in the day, no sir. It just sold a measly 3M FW back in... 1988

Square-Enix is just allergic to success.

Meanwhile FF7 Rebirth is stuck at 340k.

Kind of wild to see FF8 be the peak in Japan.
also pretty mind blowing that FF XIII nearly did 2 million retail copies sold on PS3 in Japan alone considering only 10 Million PS3's were sold there. That was only 14 years ago.

I know this is kinda off topic but am I the only one that might of liked FF7 remake slightly more that Rebirth? Maybe it was the lockdowns and I had more time playing games in early 2020 but FF7 remake would of been my GOTY in 2020 if I didn't love RE3 remake so much and at the time I rated dreams higher being a huge media molecule fan but after seeing the support we got after 4 years I would say FF7 Remake definitely is better now. I think Rebirth is definitely worth $70 but I for some reason had more fun with Remake?

FF9 took the series back to classic roots and more of a classic animated look when it had just become popular for pushing the envelope in 3D graphics.

FFX was a great game, but was pretty linear.

FFXI was an MMORPG

FFXII was another classic game, that just didn't really land

FFXIII they gave nomura the keys and he drove it off a cliff.

FFXIV was an MMORPG.

FFXV see FFXIII. It wasn't even really a Final Fantasy mainline game until Square decided they had to recover something from FF Versus 13.

FFXVI was an action RPG.

FFX was really the last Final Fantasy game that delivered what I was looking for. I bought 13, but never played more than 4-5 hours of it. And haven't purchased a FF game since. I have FF15 for free from PS+ Collection but haven't even booted it up. MY interest in 16 is pretty rock bottom. Maybe a pro enhancement would get me to take another look.

They need to deliver a turn based grand saga (no pun intended). Until they do that, I don't think FF is going to reach the levels of popularity that Dragon Quest continues to inspire. DQ was always more popular in Japan than FF, but they've gone way off course.
